Why Studio Pierrot Should Remake Naruto Instead Of Boruto

This post contains spoilers for Naruto.

Masashi Kishimoto’s “Naruto” stands among the top-selling manga series ever produced. Remarkably, even after nearly a decade since its conclusion, it continues to captivate readers worldwide, demonstrating its exceptional quality. When the narrative came to an end, fans reluctantly accepted that they would no longer encounter their beloved characters. However, news of a sequel brought a momentary sense of relief. Yet, as time passed, fans found that Boruto didn’t meet their expectations.

Boruto Has Been Labeled A Flop

  • The Boruto anime has received mixed reviews
  • There have been no updates about the anime’s future

Despite some initial reservations, enthusiasts eventually chose to explore Boruto. The beginning showed promise, but it wasn’t long before it became evident that the series couldn’t compare to the impact of Naruto. Matters worsened when popular characters like Naruto and Sasuke were given less focus by the author to make room for the new leads. Granted, it was necessary for the newcomers to have their moment, but the way the author handled Naruto and Sasuke left much to be desired.

The anime didn’t help its own cause by putting out too many annoying additional episodes, which just fueled fan frustration even more. The Boruto anime came to a close in 2023, and it’s fair to say that plenty of viewers were relieved. Since the end of the series, there have been numerous discussions about its future, but no official news has been announced yet.

Studio Pierrot Should Work On A Naruto Remake

The Naruto Remake Will Rekindle Fans’ Interest

One potential approach for Studio Pierrot could be to rework the entire Naruto saga. Although the initial adaptation holds its own merit, there are numerous noticeable flaws that could be effectively addressed through a remake. The primary benefit of a Naruto remake lies in the elimination of filler episodes, which have been a significant issue throughout the series, particularly in the second part and the Fourth Great Ninja War arc. These fillers detracted from an otherwise exceptional storyline, giving the impression that the studio was over-exploiting the anime for profit.

A key advantage of a remake is that viewers can enjoy the anime with improved animation quality. While the original anime isn’t poor in any way, it pales in comparison to contemporary productions. For instance, those who have watched Solo Leveling, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War might find Naruto’s animation unsatisfying. Studio Pierrot could follow the same strategy they used with Bleach. The original Bleach is commendable, but the Thousand-Year Blood War stands in a league of its own. Produced by Pierrot Films, it’s currently working on the final installment. Once Pierrot Films completes work on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, they can focus on other projects.

If Studio Pierrot were to focus on a Naruto remake instead of continuing with Boruto, it would likely benefit the studio as audience interest and fan support could grow. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the remake will be officially approved. Instead, it suggests that the idea could be under consideration at the studio, and they wouldn’t want to miss out on such an opportunity.

Will The Boruto Anime Return?

The Boruto Anime Might Make A Comeback In 2026

Previously mentioned, updates regarding Boruto anime’s continuation remain unknown, yet there’s a strong possibility it won’t be permanently discontinued. It seems Studio Pierrot could be postponing the anime production until the manga provides enough content for adaptation. They are aiming to learn from past errors in the initial series. Interestingly, Studio Pierrot recently announced that Black Clover Season 5 is indeed underway. Many fans were bracing themselves for the possibility of no more seasons; however, they were pleasantly surprised when Studio Pierrot debunked those assumptions.

In the near future, it’s likely that Studio Pierrot will unveil updates about the Boruto anime, as major announcements are typically saved for events like Jump Festa, and one such event is scheduled towards the end of this year. That’s when we might learn more about the future developments in the Boruto anime.
