Why The Elder Scrolls Online’s Lore Should Make a Mark on TES 6

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that The Elder Scrolls Online has been an unexpected gem in the absence of new single-player installments like Skyrim. Over the past ten years, it’s not only provided fresh content but also enriched the lore of The Elder Scrolls universe in ways that have kept us hooked and curious about what’s to come with The Elder Scrolls 6.

Since its debut in 2014, “The Elder Scrolls Online” has been the primary source of content for the “Elder Scrolls” series, with the exception of mods. The last DLC for “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” was “Dragonborn,” released in 2012. Since then, “The Elder Scrolls Online” has introduced numerous characters and stories to the universe of “Elder Scrolls,” adding depth to the lore and sustaining fan interest during the gap between installments of “The Elder Scrolls 6.

After a decade of storytelling in The Elder Scrolls Online, it’s crucial for The Elder Scrolls 6 to recognize the impact the MMO has had on the series. Although ESO is set a millennium prior to Skyrim, there are narrative threads and settings that could persist or be alluded to in The Elder Scrolls 6, even if there’s another time leap of several centuries post-Skyrim. This could be achieved through its numerous immortal characters or by leveraging the rich resources already prevalent in The Elder Scrolls, such as books and world-building material.

Bringing Back the Daedric Princes in The Elder Scrolls 6

One obvious route to mention would be to bring in the new Daedric Prince, Ithelia. Some ESO players were disappointed with Ithelia, with one opinion being expressed that her concept was more interesting than her execution. Although Ithelia is locked away during the events of Gold Road, there are plenty of ways to bring her back for The Elder Scrolls 6 and to give her story justice. As Ithelia is the Daedric Prince of Paths with the power to alter fate, there’s a lot of potential to create a meaningful story with her at the center.

By adding Ithelia to the mix, we’d also get a chance to introduce two less frequently used Daedric Princes: Peryite and Vaermina. While Peryite is often seen as one of the weakest among the Daedric Princes, his stance against confining Ithelia and acknowledging her existence could create numerous story opportunities if she returns in The Elder Scrolls 6. His role as a relatively weaker prince also opens up possibilities for compelling narrative and character development. A player character might even develop an engaging relationship with him based on their motivations. On the other hand, Vaermina, the Daedric Prince of Nightmares, presents intriguing gameplay possibilities due to her domain over dreams and nightmares.

Referencing ESO in The Elder Scrolls 6 Through Its World

As a dedicated gamer, I’d say immersing myself in a richly detailed game world is one of the most satisfying aspects of gaming. For instance, games like “The Elder Scrolls” have always been brilliant at this – by incorporating in-game books that delve into the history and lore of Tamriel, they add authenticity to the universe. In the case of “The Elder Scrolls 6”, there’s an exciting opportunity to reference events from its predecessor, “ESO”. These references could appear in historical texts, magical tomes, or religious scriptures that players can find within the game itself.

In The Elder Scrolls 6, I might come across some intriguing side quests that could reference smaller elements from Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). For instance, you might find unique weapons and armor, or Daedric artifacts exclusive to ESO, hidden as rewards for certain quests. Additionally, NPCs who share a family name with significant characters from ESO could make an appearance in The Elder Scrolls 6. These details may be subtle, but they’re a cool way to acknowledge the rich lore of ESO, and fellow players of that game might appreciate the nod!
