Why You Should Replay The Marvel’s Spider-Man Games in 2026

The year 2026 is underway, and with fewer new games typically launching in January, many players are likely looking to revisit older titles. Thanks to a wealth of great games released recently and the convenience of subscription services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, those ‘backlogs’ of unplayed games can be quite large. While tackling that backlog is a good way to start the year, replaying games you already love can be just as satisfying. When it comes to replayability, the Marvel’s Spider-Man series should be high on everyone’s list.

There are plenty of reasons to play the Marvel’s Spider-Man games again. They’re simply great superhero experiences, with fun combat, smooth movement, and engaging stories. The games still look fantastic, and many players enjoy spending time taking pictures in photo mode. New Game Plus makes replaying even easier, letting you use all the costumes you’ve unlocked. But beyond just being consistently enjoyable, 2026 is a particularly good time to revisit these games because of upcoming events like the release of Marvel’s Wolverine, the 1000th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man (TASM), and the Brand New Day storyline.

Reason 1: 2026 is a Monumental Year For the Wall-Crawler

Like Batman, Spider-Man remains incredibly popular and consistently gets new stories and attention. 2026 will be a big year for the character, with the release of Amazing Spider-Man issue #1,000 – a rare achievement in the comic book world. While it’s still unknown what the story will be, Marvel has already started teasing it with special covers in 2025. Even if the issue doesn’t undo the controversial One More Day storyline and reunite Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson permanently, it’s a landmark event that’s guaranteed to be a huge success.

With the 1,000th issue of Amazing Spider-Man recently celebrated, excitement is already high for the wall-crawler. The upcoming release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day will only amplify that enthusiasm. The fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man movie arrives on July 31st, promising fantastic action from director Dustin Daniel Cretton (known for Shang-Chi) and featuring appearances by The Hulk and The Punisher. Like previous Marvel Spider-Man films, this one is expected to be a major hit, leaving fans eager for even more adventures. And to top it all off, a new season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is planned for 2026.

No matter how fans enjoy Spider-Man – through comics or movies – 2026 promises plenty of content. While there aren’t any new Spider-Man games coming out, players can revisit Insomniac’s excellent existing titles. Just like many gamers frequently replay the Arkham series – which heavily influenced Marvel’s Spider-Man – Insomniac’s games are worth another playthrough. They offer fantastic portrayals of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, and let you fight a wide range of Spider-Man villains, including Tombstone and Scorpion, who will also appear in Brand New Day. Whether you want to play the games to get excited for the 1,000th issue of the comic or the next Tom Holland movie, or revisit them after those releases, this year is perfect to experience them again.

So, the suit Spider-Man wears at the end of No Way Home will definitely be in Brand New Day. But honestly, I’m hoping they add even more suits to the game. Insomniac has a habit of letting us unlock MCU suits in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as free updates, and I’m betting they’ll do the same if another costume shows up in the movie. Fingers crossed!

Reason 2: A Great Way to Set the Stage for Marvel’s Wolverine

With an exciting year ahead for Spider-Man, now is a great time to replay the Marvel’s Spider-Man games. But there’s another reason to look forward to 2026: Marvel’s Wolverine. After a delay caused by a data breach at Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Wolverine is now scheduled to release in 2026. This game will be very different from the Spider-Man series, focusing on a more mature, violent story and a globe-trotting adventure centered around Weapon X. Players will encounter Logan’s enemies like Mystique and Omega Red, and the combat will be brutal and resemble God of War more than the Arkham series, making it a unique experience.

Although Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine are distinct games, they both take place in the same universe. While we might not see Peter or Miles make a big appearance in Wolverine (especially given the details revealed in the recent leak), the game has a chance to expand the world they share. For example, if Wolverine introduces The Hand, that organization could then appear in a future Spider-Man game or a potential Daredevil title. Likewise, Spider-Man 2 hinted at the existence of Doctor Strange, meaning magic is also part of the world in Marvel’s Wolverine. Beyond setting up future storylines, Wolverine could include subtle references to Spider-Man’s adventures through things like radio broadcasts or newspaper articles. To fully appreciate everything, it’s a good idea to revisit the events of the Spider-Man games before playing Marvel’s Wolverine.

With a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription, you can play Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales at no extra cost. If you want to play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, that’s the only game you’ll need to buy.

The Best Reason: The Marvel’s Spider-Man Games Are Tremendous

Let’s be real, the best reason to replay a game you love is because it’s just good. Yeah, moments like seeing Miles become Spider-Man or Peter’s big sacrifice don’t have quite the same punch the second time around when you know what’s coming, but they’re still awesome. The acting, especially in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with the whole Symbiote thing, really makes those scenes pop. Plus, all the gadgets keep the fighting and sneaking interesting. On a replay, I always notice little jokes I missed before, or actually take the time to enjoy the side missions. Honestly, it’s just super fun swinging around the city at top speed with all the upgrades you’ve unlocked!

Even with exciting additions like issue #1,000, the ‘Brand New Day’ storyline, and a new Marvel game from Insomniac, the games themselves are the main reason to revisit the Marvel’s Spider-Man series. From using powerful symbiote abilities to taking photos like a professional and chaining together impressive combos, playing Marvel’s Spider-Man is guaranteed to delight any Marvel enthusiast in 2026.
