Wikipedia is Down Right Now

Update 2/25: That was fast. Wikipedia already appears to be back up and running like normal.

Original story follows.

Wikipedia, a popular online encyclopedia, is currently experiencing an outage. Although some people question its reliability because anyone can edit articles, most of the information on the site is accurate. Wikipedia remains a primary source of information for millions of users daily, and its format has been widely imitated by other websites.

Unlike many websites, Wikipedia doesn’t use advertisements or unnecessary features. It stays online thanks to donations from people who use it. Because it’s so helpful and trustworthy, people are willing to contribute. Usually, Wikipedia is very stable and always available, but right now, it’s experiencing some technical difficulties and is currently inaccessible.

As of right now, Wikipedia is experiencing an outage. Many users are reporting issues on Down Detector, which often signals a large-scale problem. I’ve personally confirmed I can’t reach the site using a web browser, but the mobile app is still working. Wikipedia hasn’t released any information about the downtime, so it’s unknown when it will be fixed. However, it probably won’t be down for very long.

We will update this article as soon as Wikipedia’s services have been fully restored.
