Will Rebirth Island be removed when Area 99 hits Warzone? Rumor explained

As a dedicated Warzone player with countless hours spent on Rebirth Island, I must admit my heart skipped a beat when I heard the rumor about its potential removal. Rebirth has been a staple for me and many others, offering a unique gameplay experience that no other map quite matches.

Initially, Rebirth Island was the initial Resurgence map introduced in Warzone, but even though additional maps followed suit, it has consistently been the fan favorite. It’s been speculated that, if a rumor holds true, this beloved map could be taken down once more with the advent of Black Ops 6 Season 1.

At the Call of Duty Next event, they showcased a fresh Area 99 Resurgence map delving into the history behind the well-known Nuketown. This map is set to debut with the Season 1 update; however, there’s talk that it could also signal the departure of Rebirth Island.

Will Rebirth Island be removed from Warzone again?

At the moment, it doesn’t seem like Rebirth Island is definitely going to be taken out of Warzone when Area 99 launches.

According to a rumor spread by leaker Alaix, it appears that Black Ops 6 Season 1 might take away Rebirth Island and introduce the new map, Area 99 instead. However, they suggest that Fortune’s Keep will remain part of the game.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve been buzzing with excitement about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (BO6) Season 1. It looks like the map we’ve come to love as Rebirth might be swapped out for Area99, but it seems Fortunes Keep is here to stay!

It’s important to mention that at this point, the information seems to be just a rumor without solid evidence from the game files. However, it’s worth noting that Alaix has been reliable in the past.

It’s likely that one of the Resurgence maps will be taken down temporarily to accommodate Area 99, although we can’t say which one just yet. Previously, developers mentioned that having too many maps might lead to large download sizes for players, and Ashika Island was permanently deleted soon after Rebirth Island came back in May 2024.

It’s highly probable that when Season 1 starts, Area 99 will be the sole Resurgence map offered. This setup guarantees that all Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads playlists are filled up. Later in Season 1, other Resurgence maps may reappear, but it’s possible that one or two might not be included initially.

As an enthusiast, I can’t wait to learn more about the future strategies for Warzone as we get closer, but first, the exciting beta phase for Black Ops 6 starts on August 30, leading up to its grand release on October 25.
