As a seasoned gamer and anime enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say, the revelation of Wind Breaker Season 2 is nothing short of exhilarating! The anticipation for this action-packed series has been building steadily since its first season premiered last spring.


Last Sunday was packed with excitement for Wind Breaker as they unveiled a fresh trailer, teaser artwork, new team members, additional cast, and the release date for Season 2 during a special event on October 13th. To top it off, they announced plans to adapt the series into a video game!

In April 2025, exactly one year following its initial release in the spring, the second installment of the anime adaptation based on Satoru Nii’s Wind Breaker manga will debut. The teaser artwork carries the slogan, “The town’s heroes brace for a fresh conflict”, alluding to the impending struggle between Bōfurin and KEEL.

The production team at CloverWorks is busy working on the upcoming second season of “Wind Breaker”. Many staff members from the first season are returning for this new installment. Among them are director Toshifumi Akai, who also worked on character design for “Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic”, and Hiroshi Seko, known for his series composition in “Jujutsu Kaisen”. Taishi Kawakami, key animation artist from “Evangelion: 3.0 [-46h]”, is now joined by Yūsuke Tanaka, chief animation director of “Vividred Operation”, as the character design team. Kazuyuki Asaka, key animation artist from “Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie”, takes on the role of action director for this season too.

In the role of color design for Black Butler: Public School Arc, Asuka Yokota is now joined by Kyōko Hara. Ryō Takahashi continues to handle the music, with Yasunao Moriyasu taking on art setting. The cast expands to include Ryōta Ōsaka, who will portray Tasuku Tsubakino, one of Bōfūrin’s Four Heavenly Kings. The second season of Wind Breaker is set to debut in April 2025. Accompanying the announcement of the season 2 release date is a videogame adaptation titled Wind Breaker: Heroic Tales of Delinquents, for which visual and teaser trailers have also been released.

Starting in January 2021, Satoru Nii’s “Wind Breaker” manga made its debut on the Kodansha Magazine Pocket app. Over time, this series has been compiled into a total of 19 volumes. The story unfolds in a high school where the students are not ordinary teenagers but heroes who safeguard their community from danger.

Haruka Sakura focuses solely on the most powerful individuals and is more concerned with climbing to the highest ranks; therefore, when he enrolls at Furin High, he struggles to adapt to being part of a team. The series premiered on April 4, and Crunchyroll streamed it as episodes were released. A stage play adaptation of the manga will be running in Osaka from January 1-3, followed by performances in Tokyo from January 10-19.
