As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that unlocking the Fungal Swamp in Windblown is a challenge worth undertaking for any roguelike enthusiast. The journey to the Rat Village biome and the subsequent encounter with the Headbanger boss might test your mettle, but it’s all part of the thrill.
In this game, you’ll find yourself in a speedy, action-packed roguelike experience where you can join forces with two other players to tackle the perils of the Vortex. Initially, when embarking on an Expedition, adventurers will traverse through Golem Gardens as their starting biome. With progression, players can unveil an alternate starting location called Fungal Swamp, offering distinct enemies and treasures as rewards.
Similar to many roguelike games, the means to access this additional starting area isn’t explicitly provided; however, we’re here to help! In this guide, we’ll walk you through the precise steps to unlocking the Fungal Swamp in Windblown, saving you from repeatedly traversing Golem Gardens.
How to Unlock Fungal Swamp in Windblown
In the captivating world of Windblown, I found myself standing before the formidable Headbanger boss in the Factory. Once I’ve bested this fearsome foe, the path to the challenging Fungal Swamp will open up. Brace yourself, adventurer, as Rat Village, the next biome, is significantly tougher than the Factory you’ve just traversed. Press on, clearing each room as you advance, for the battles ahead promise a worthy challenge.
Over time, as you defeat one of the Elites, they may drop a Wind Map. Obtaining this map will unlock the Fungal Swamp during your next expedition that starts from the Vortex. If your character dies during the run, return to the Vortex Cannon and select ‘Start Expedition’ again. Instead of always starting at Golem Gardens, you’ll now have three options: Golem Gardens, Fungal Swamp, or a Random location for your expedition to begin.
If your friend has access to the Fungal Swamp through their Vortex Cannon, they can invite you to their game and you’ll both be able to embark on an Expedition within the unique starting environment of the Fungal Swamp instead of your own.
Compared to Golem Garden, Fungal Swamp is significantly tougher to traverse due to its more formidable and damaging enemies, as well as an increased number of Elites and Mini-Bosses. While Golem Garden doesn’t have a main boss, mastering the fundamentals in Windblown is advisable before venturing into Fungal Swamp.
From a positive perspective, the items dropped in Fungal Swamp are unique compared to those found in Golem Gardens. Therefore, if you aim to gather all Weapons, Gifts, and Trinkets in the game Windblown, at some point, you’ll need to explore this specific biome.
Windblown provides an exceptional cooperative rogue-like adventure for individuals seeking a fun gaming experience in tandem with friends. In contrast to the standard Golem Gardens, the Fungal Swamp serves as an alternate starting environment that offers a refreshing twist, perfect for those craving a change and eager to tackle something fresh and challenging.
