Windows 11 Adds Xbox Full Screen Capability to PCs

Windows 11 now lets you play Xbox games in full screen on your PC. This feature is currently being tested with Windows Insiders through the latest preview build.

As Microsoft promotes, more and more games are becoming available on both Xbox and PC. Popular Xbox franchises like Halo, Gears of War, and Forza are often released on PC, and with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate including PC access, playing these games is incredibly easy. While PC gaming has been great, it hasn’t always matched the smooth experience of playing on an Xbox console. But a recent update to Windows 11 is aiming to change that.

A new Windows 11 update (Preview Build 26220.7271) brings full-screen support for Xbox games. This lets you seamlessly switch between your desktop and a full-screen Xbox experience using the taskbar or by pressing Win + Tab. When you’re in full-screen mode, Windows will automatically switch to the Xbox gaming page, letting you play without distractions. Plus, you can now have multiple games open and easily switch between them using your controller.

Microsoft hasn’t announced a release date for Full Screen mode for Xbox on Windows 11, but it sounds like a useful feature for gamers who play on the go. If you don’t have Windows 11, the ROG Xbox Ally offers a way to play Xbox games on a handheld device. Plus, with games like Halo: Combat Evolved now available on PlayStation 5, you have more options than ever for playing Xbox games anywhere you like.
