The Spring 2026 anime season has arrived, and fans are already planning what to watch! April brings back popular series like Classroom of the Elite, Dorohedoro, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, alongside exciting new shows such as Daemons of the Shadow Realm, Ghost Concert: Missing Songs, and Snowball Earth. Several series are premiering this week, and one, announced way back in 2022, has generated a lot of buzz.
For years, fans have been excitedly anticipating the anime version of Kamome Shirahama’s acclaimed manga, Witch Hat Atelier. The recent announcement that the show was delayed from 2025 to 2026 was disappointing, but most fans understood the decision was made to ensure a high-quality adaptation that truly captures the magic of the original story. Now, the premiere is almost here, finally ending the long wait for Witch Hat Atelier fans – and there’s even more good news on the way!
Witch Hat Atelier Has What It Takes to Be One of the Biggest Hits of Spring 2026
Magic and Danger and a Silver-Haired Baddie, Oh My
If you enjoy fantasy stories like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, or Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, you’ll definitely want to check out this new series. The creator, Shirahama, was heavily influenced by epic fantasy and Studio Ghibli films, and that influence is clear in the beautiful artwork and storytelling. While it remains to be seen how the anime will compare to the award-winning manga, expectations are high. The animation is being handled by Bug Films, known for shows like Dororo and Vinland Saga, and directed by Ayumu Watanabe, who worked on Space Brothers and Summer Time Rendering. Early reactions have been great, and the trailers have fans eagerly awaiting the premiere.
Witch Hat Atelier follows Coco, a girl with big dreams of becoming a witch. But in this world, magic isn’t something you can learn – you’re born with the ability, or you’re not. One day, Coco meets Qifrey, a mysterious witch who uses unique rune-based magic. When Coco tries to replicate it, she accidentally turns her mother to stone! Unable to undo the spell, she turns to Qifrey for help. He agrees to take her on as an apprentice, letting her pursue her dream while they both work towards completing a special quest.
