Luckily, EA is running a beta for Battlefield 6 on all platforms, allowing players to test the multiplayer modes before its official launch.

The beta for Battlefield 6 isn’t accessible to all players yet, but those who got early access keys are currently enjoying the game from August 7-8. These keys were given exclusively to viewers of selected Battlefield streamers on Twitch last week. Most Battlefield enthusiasts will probably need to wait until August 9-10 and August 14-16 to experience the open beta, but those who’ve already played it have shared a mix of positive and negative feedback.

Battlefield 6 Players Have Complained a Lot About the Low Recoil of the Game’s Guns

So far, the response to Battlefield 6 has been generally favorable, but some players have voiced concerns about a specific feature of its gunplay. They believe that the guns in Battlefield 6 lack sufficient recoil, making them easier to control. For those unaware, recoil refers to the kickback a gun produces whenever it fires a bullet, either vertically or horizontally. Guns with weak recoil tend to be unusually accurate, giving an impression more akin to using a laser gun instead of a real-world weapon.

Attachments, Not Guns, Are Largely to Blame for the Low Recoil in Battlefield 6

In Battlefield 6, it’s not entirely accurate to say that the weapon recoil is excessively problematic as some players might suggest. Focusing Too Much on Realism Could Harm Battlefield 6 Long-Term

It’s true that concerns about the game’s attachments are valid, but it’s worth considering that pushing for ultra-realistic gunplay might lead to unintended consequences down the line. While realism is important in video games, overemphasizing it could diminish the overall enjoyment of a first-person shooter. To strike the right chord, games should aim for an optimal blend of arcade-style action and immersive gameplay that maximizes fun. Apart from its attachment problems, Battlefield 6 seems to have made significant strides in achieving this balance compared to many contemporary first-person shooter titles.

As Long As It Retains Bloom, Battlefield 6’s Recoil Shouldn’t Be Too Much of a Problem

In simpler terms, while the guns in Battlefield 6 don’t kick back much when fired, their bullet spread (or bloom) becomes more pronounced over distance and prolonged firing. This introduces an element of randomness and skill into each fight, making it less rewarding to attack from a distance. Since the guns already have some degree of bullet spread, adding excessive recoil would make them nearly impossible to aim accurately. As such, it’s likely that the relatively low weapon recoil in Battlefield 6 is a good thing, given the existing bloom.
