It appears MachineGames is developing a new Wolfenstein game, and we might get a preview of it soon. It’s been over five years since Wolfenstein: Youngblood came out, and fans have been eagerly anticipating the next installment. While MachineGames hasn’t officially confirmed anything, an announcement for Wolfenstein fans seems likely in the near future.
The Wolfenstein series is a long-running and highly impactful first-person shooter franchise. It was successfully rebooted in 2014 by MachineGames, after being acquired by Bethesda, with the release of The New Order. Following the spin-off Youngblood in 2019, news about new Wolfenstein games has been scarce, with only a few hints from the developers. However, MachineGames recently hinted at a new game coming in late 2025, and it now appears likely to be the next main installment in the Wolfenstein series.
Multiple Sources Say Wolfenstein 3 Is in Development
Okay, so I’m hearing some really exciting news about Wolfenstein 3! Jez Corden, who’s usually spot-on with leaks, said MachineGames is actually working on it, and Kotaku’s sources are backing that up. Apparently, they’re planning to release the game around the same time as the Wolfenstein TV show Amazon’s making. We don’t know when the show will drop yet, but with how well Fallout did for them, they might want to release it soon. Even if the show isn’t out next year, I’m expecting an announcement about it pretty quickly, and that’s when we’ll probably get news about the game too – especially since MachineGames has been dropping little hints lately. It all seems to be building up to something big!
The studio has subtly suggested a new Wolfenstein game is coming, and also mentioned an unannounced game planned for fall 2025. In a documentary about the series, MachineGames’ Studio Head and Game Director, Jerk Gustafsson, revealed they originally intended Wolfenstein to be a three-part story. Although MachineGames has created four Wolfenstein games (excluding the VR title Cyberpilot), the story feels incomplete because The Old Blood is a prequel, Youngblood is a separate story, and The New Colossus is essentially Wolfenstein 2. Gustafsson highlighting this unfinished trilogy suggests that a new installment is likely in development, which supports recent reports from Corden and Kotaku.
Image via MachineGames Bethesda will celebrate its 40th anniversary in June 2026, and that would be a perfect time to announce Wolfenstein 3. MachineGames, the studio behind the game, has hinted at working on multiple projects after Indiana Jones, so while their next game could be something completely new, many believe it will be another Wolfenstein title. Considering comments from a studio lead about a trilogy, previous statements from Bethesda about more Wolfenstein games, and the timing, it seems very likely that a new Wolfenstein is currently in development.

While Wolfenstein: Youngblood didn’t quite hit the mark with players, there’s hope a new installment can recapture the series’ former glory. With Bethesda celebrating an anniversary and a TV show on the horizon, the timing seems ideal to reignite excitement. However, it’s important to remember that all reports and predictions should be viewed with skepticism until an official announcement is made.
