MachineGames, the studio behind games like *Wolfenstein* and *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle*, has hinted at what they’re working on next. The announcement, made as part of the company’s anniversary celebration, quickly got fans talking and speculating about their future projects.
Founded in 2009 by seven former Starbreeze Studios employees, MachineGames is based in Uppsala, Sweden. The studio has created more than six games, and was acquired by ZeniMax Media (now part of Microsoft) in 2010. Their most recent release is *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle*, which first launched on Xbox Series X/S and PC in December 2024, and became available on PlayStation 5 this April.
MachineGames Teases Next Game in 15th Anniversary Poster
MachineGames recently celebrated 15 years as part of ZeniMax Media by releasing a poster showcasing the covers of five of their previous games, including *Wolfenstein: The Old Blood* and *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle*. The poster also includes a blank space with a question mark, hinting at a future announcement. In addition, Pontus Wåhlin, a Lead Prop Artist at MachineGames, shared his enthusiasm for the studio’s “upcoming projects,” implying they are working on multiple games.
Another AAA Indiana Jones Game May Happen—Eventually
A recent social media post got fans buzzing about what MachineGames is working on next. Many believe it could be a new *Wolfenstein* game or another *Indiana Jones* title. Microsoft’s Phil Spencer suggested back in April 2025 that the success of *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle* shows the franchise still has potential. While another *Indiana Jones* game seems likely eventually, it might not be MachineGames’ immediate focus.

A documentary released in early September 2025 by the YouTuber Noclip featured comments from Jerk Gustafsson, the head of MachineGames, suggesting that a third *Wolfenstein* game is likely in development. Gustafsson explained that the studio has always envisioned the revived *Wolfenstein* series as a three-part story and confirmed they aren’t finished with the franchise. These statements align with comments made in 2018 by former Bethesda VP Pete Hines, who stated that *Wolfenstein 3* was definitely planned, but that MachineGames was temporarily pausing work on it.
With the recent announcement of a live-action *Wolfenstein* series being developed by Amazon MGM Studios, it seems more and more likely that *Wolfenstein 3* is the studio’s next project. ZeniMax’s success with the *Fallout* TV show on Amazon – which boosted interest in the *Fallout* games and left fans wanting a new installment – may also play a role in their plans. This time, they might aim to release a new *Wolfenstein* game around the same time as the show premieres, creating even more excitement across both platforms.
