Woojer’s New Haptic Feedback Vest Made Me Feel The Games I Play

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I had the rare opportunity to test out the Woojer Vest 3, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure!

I’ve had the chance to test out the Woojer Vest 3, and I was eager to see if this haptic feedback vest would win me over despite my initial skepticism. This high-end tech promised to deliver an exceptional experience, so I decided to give it a shot.

It might be extremely expensive and rather cumbersome-looking at first blush, but the Woojer Vest 3 is a remarkable piece of technology that allows you to feel the games you play – and the media you consume – like never before. Is it a bit too fancy to win over the average gamer, though?

High Price, Heavy Vest

As a devoted enthusiast, I must confess that the Woojer Vest 3 comes at quite a substantial cost of around $500. However, this cutting-edge haptic vest undeniably oozes premium craftsmanship. It’s a hefty sum to consider for an ‘experiment’, but I’m incredibly grateful to Woojer for entrusting me with a review unit.

As soon as I opened the box, it was clear that I was about to enjoy something special. The Woojer Vest 3 exudes ‘high-end accessory’, from its packaging all the way down to the quality of its components and construction materials. Granted, there were a few initial hiccups when pairing the app with the vest, but those problems were on my end, and Woojer was quick to help me resolve them so I could get online promptly.

Using the Woojer for the first time feels unusual due to its weight and size. It’s not light or slimline, so you definitely notice it when wearing it. The Woojer Vest 3 is designed primarily to be used with a Meta Quest headset for an enhanced gaming experience, and that’s the impression I had while using it. However, after a moderate session, I found myself sweating quite a bit.

Among the most adaptable pieces I’ve come across, the Woojer Vest 3 proved a great fit for me, a larger gamer. Given that it’s advertised as suitable for all sizes, I shouldn’t have been taken aback by its accommodation of my frame.

As a gamer, I quickly mastered using the device, testing it across various applications – from pairing it with audio sources for music to synching it with my Meta Quest 3 headset and gaming PC. Each time I used it, I walked away impressed by the Woojer Vest 3’s capabilities.

But What Does The Woojer Vest 3 Do?

In simpler terms, the Woojer Vest 3 is a tool that gives you a tactile experience along with what you see or hear in games, music, or movies. It achieves this by responding to suitable inputs and transmitting vibrations through various sensors (transducers) across your body.

The intensity of the sensation you’ll experience depends on the volume and pitch of the sound, with deeper and louder sounds producing a stronger feeling through the transducers positioned on your chest, back, and abdomen. While it may seem like it could accurately replicate the feel of firing a rifle in your shoulder, it doesn’t have that level of specificity.

I had an exhilarating time playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 with the Woojer Vest 3 on Nuketown. The mix of explosions, gunfire, and other sound effects created a one-of-a-kind physical experience for me. To add to the fun, I turned the feedback volume up to the highest setting, and the vest gave me quite the punch, leaving my skin tingling!

This device is incredibly adaptable, taking various types of input. However, it can be somewhat tricky when dealing with cables. For example, connecting a cable from my computer to the vest was necessary, followed by plugging in a wired headset into the control panel on the vest for audio transmission – but there are more convenient methods to set it up.

Regarding its technical features, the Woojer Vest 3 is outfitted with six innovative oscillators providing an immersive ‘360-degree sensory perception’. This device can be customized effortlessly using a user-friendly app and it’s compatible with Bluetooth as well as various wired connections such as USB-C and 3.5mm. A single charge can last up to eight hours, and it boasts a swift charging solution designed to maximize battery life quickly.

Essentially, the Woojer Vest 3 is an interesting and advanced device, but due to its high cost and somewhat cumbersome nature, I must admit that it doesn’t seem particularly marketable at this time. It’s a specialized technology that might be too niche for most gamers to invest in, even die-hard enthusiasts may find it a bit superfluous.

Using the Woojer Vest 3 was an enjoyable experience at first, as its haptic feedback left me amazed. However, having to put it on and take it off for each session grew tedious. Plus, during hot summer days, I found myself worried about overheating the vest and storing it away out of concern.

As a gamer with a pocket full of cash, if you’re feeling adventurous and have $500 itching for a new experience, then consider investing. If not, it’s always smart to hang onto your hard-earned dough.
