World of Warcraft Confirms Fan-Favorite In-Development Housing Features

Blizzard has announced several improvements coming to player homes in World of Warcraft, including the ability to share ownership with others, easily copy and share home designs, and decorate with pets and mounts. While some of these features are still in development, others will be added to the game relatively soon.

Ever since Housing was added to World of Warcraft in Patch 11.2.7, it’s become incredibly popular with players. The system offers amazing customization options, lots of helpful features, and is simple to use, leading many to call it one of the best housing systems ever created in an MMO.

WoW Confirms Fan-Favorite In-Development Housing Features

Okay, so the Housing system in WoW is finally leaving early access, which is awesome! That means Blizzard is going to keep adding even more stuff to it. It all goes live with the World of Warcraft: Midnight pre-expansion update on January 20th. We’re getting a ton of improvements – things like Neighborhood Endeavors to do with our neighbors, new house styles for Night Elves and Blood Elves, we can level up our Renown even further, there will be medium-sized houses available, and it’ll be easier to see exactly where your plot boundaries are when you’re building. It’s gonna be great!

Blizzard is planning more features for player housing in World of Warcraft, though these will come later in development. These include allowing players to add more decorations and lighting to the outside of their homes, creating decorations that look like snow or different environments, and the ability to save and share housing designs. They also plan to add interactive objects that are both visually appealing and useful, and eventually allow collected mounts and pets to roam around inside your home.

Ion Hazzikostas, the game director for World of Warcraft, understands players are interested in having their Hunter pets and alternate characters roam around player housing. However, he acknowledges there are technical challenges that could make this feature difficult to implement.

Beyond what’s coming soon, Blizzard is considering a few other features for World of Warcraft. They might add more tools for guild leaders to manage housing permissions if players want them. Basements are also possible, though they present technical challenges. Players could also potentially have control over event spaces, like a community theater or wedding venue. Finally, the team plans to eventually introduce housing plots, potentially by expanding existing areas like Founder’s Point and Razorwind Shores, adding completely new zones, or a combination of both.

The Future of Housing in World of Warcraft

Player housing is a major new feature in World of Warcraft, and Blizzard plans to continue developing it for years to come. Holly Longdale, vice president and executive producer, announced that a detailed roadmap outlining upcoming housing features over the next year will be released soon.

From now on, every update to World of Warcraft will likely include new features for player Housing. These updates will probably add decorations for your home, as well as ways to increase your Housing reputation (around 5-10 levels with each patch). The Housing system is still very new, and there are plans for lots more content in the future.
