World of Warcraft Confirms Fan-Favorite In-Development Housing Features

Blizzard has announced several improvements coming to player homes in World of Warcraft, including the ability to share ownership with others, save and load home designs, and display pets and mounts inside and around your house. While some of these updates are still in development, others will be available to players relatively soon.

Since its release in the World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7, the Housing feature has become incredibly popular with players. It’s been praised as one of the best housing systems ever created in a massively multiplayer online game, thanks to its extensive customization options, helpful quality-of-life improvements, and user-friendly design.

Blizzard shared some plans for features they’re working on for player housing in World of Warcraft, though these will come later in the development process. These include letting players add more decorations and lighting to the outside of their homes, creating decorations that look like snow or other environments, and the ability to save and share housing designs. They also plan to add interactive objects that are both visually appealing and useful, and eventually allow mounts and pets to roam around inside your home.

Ion Hazzikostas, the game director for World of Warcraft, understands players are interested in having their Hunter pets and alternate characters roam around their in-game homes. However, he notes there are technical challenges that could make this feature difficult to implement.

Beyond the features coming soon, the World of Warcraft team is considering several other ideas for the future. These include more tools for guild leaders to manage housing, and potentially adding basements to player homes if the technology allows. Players might also be able to create and control their own event spaces, like theaters or wedding venues, within the game. Eventually, Blizzard hopes to add housing plots, possibly by expanding existing areas like Founder’s Point and Razorwind Shores, or by creating entirely new zones.

The Future of Housing in World of Warcraft

So, housing is officially a big deal in WoW now, and Blizzard seems really committed to it for the long haul. Holly Longdale, one of the top people at World of Warcraft, said we’re getting a detailed roadmap soon. It’ll basically tell us when to expect all the new housing features to drop over the next year, which is awesome!

From now on, almost every update to World of Warcraft will include improvements and additions to the new Housing feature. These updates will likely bring new decorations for your homes, as well as ways to increase your Housing Renown. The Housing system is still very new, and it sounds like there will be a lot more content coming for players to enjoy in the near future.
