The Lunar Festival is happening again in World of Warcraft for 2026! Players can collect new cosmetics designed for the Lunar New Year. Now through March 2nd, you can trade Coins of Ancestry to get these special items for your character’s appearance.
The Lunar Festival in World of Warcraft is the game’s version of the Chinese Lunar New Year. During the festival, players can enjoy fireworks, find hidden Elders throughout the game world to earn special coins, and calm an angry Wild God named Omen. There are also achievements to unlock, flower crown outfits to collect, a festive Hearthstone toy, and even a special mount—the Lunar Launcher—that was added to the game last year.
Lunar Festival 2026 Now Live in World of Warcraft

The Lunar Festival has returned to World of Warcraft for 2026, bringing with it some new items to earn! Between now and March 2nd at 9 AM Pacific Time, players can trade Coins of Ancestry for Lunar Festival rewards at special vendors located in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and Moonglade.

The Ornate Violet Lunar Festival outfit costs 75 Ancestry Coins, and each weapon and the Sunny Pack of Lunar Explosives costs 25 Coins. To get everything, players will need a total of 200 Ancestry Coins. You earn one Ancestry Coin by honoring each of the Elders found throughout Azeroth. Since there are around 100 Elders in the game, players will likely need to use multiple characters to collect enough Coins to buy all the items.

This month, you can buy the Ornate Crimson Lunar Festival Attire and matching red weapons at the World of Warcraft Trading Post. The Lively Pack of Lunar Explosives is available for free by completing this month’s Traveler’s Log. The Ornate Pink Lunar Festival Attire was a free reward from the Trading Post in February 2025 and isn’t currently available, though it might return in a future event.
What Other World of Warcraft Events Are Happening Right Now?
There’s more than one event happening in World of Warcraft right now! Besides the current event, players can enjoy ‘Love Is in the Air’ until February 23rd and the ‘Winds of Mysterious Fortune’ leveling event until February 24th. Also, the ‘Twilight Ascension’ pre-patch for the upcoming Midnight expansion is live and will continue until the expansion launches on March 2nd.

From February 23rd to March 10th, exciting events will be happening in the game! The Hatching of the Hippogryphs begins right after the Love Is in the Air event ends. Then, a new skyriding race called the Outland Cup replaces the Winds of Mysterious Fortune. Finally, the Darkmoon Faire arrives on March 1st for a week, offering a special buff to help players quickly reach level 90 and start earning reputation with the new Midnight Renown groups.
The Cataclysm Timewalking event, previously planned for the week of February 17th, is no longer happening on those dates.
World of Warcraft: Midnight launches on March 2nd, but players who purchase the Epic Edition will get a head start on February 26th. They’ll be able to explore the new areas, begin quests, and participate in some activities before the official release. It’s shaping up to be a thrilling few weeks for World of Warcraft fans!
