In the narrative arc of “World of Warcraft: Midnight,” a chapter centered around Arator Windrunner is planned. This chapter promises to guide heroes through various historic sites from the Old World, such as Light’s Hope Chapel and Stratholme. Although fans were already anticipating visits to renowned zones like Quel’Thalas, players of “World of Warcraft” will also explore numerous other classic locations within this story.
As a devoted fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement when they officially unveiled the anticipated expansion for World of Warcraft: Midnight during Gamescom Opening Night Live! This expansion is truly a game-changer, as it introduces four breathtaking new zones to explore. Among them are a meticulously revamped Silvermoon City and Eversong, the heartland of the Blood Elves that has been a cherished part of their lore. Additionally, Zul’Aman, the territory of the Forest Trolls, makes its long-awaited appearance in the game, having previously only been encountered during raids. This expansion is set to bring fresh adventures and immerse us deeper into the magical world of Azeroth!
WoW: Midnight Arator Chapter Goes to Old Azeroth Zones
Fans can expect to explore different familiar territories during their journey in the game Midnight, as revealed by BennyCentral’s conversation with World of Warcraft senior game director Ion Hazzikostas and associate director Paul Kubit during the Xbox Gamescom Day 1 Broadcast. In the Midnight campaign, players start in Eversong before moving to either Zul’Aman or Harandar, eventually ending up in Voidstorm. But there’s more! Besides Zul’Aman and Harandar, an additional chapter centered around Arator Windrunner – son of Alleria and Turalyon – will lead players to revisit several old locations on Azeroth.
As per Kubit, the upcoming Arator chapter is set to return to Light’s Hope Chapel – a place significant for the Death Knight’s rebellion against Arthas in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King and the Paladin Order Hall in Legion. Additionally, it will visit Stratholme and a few other intriguing locations. Accompanied by the heroes of Azeroth, Arator embarks on this voyage to explore his connection with the Light. This introspective journey serves as a prelude to the final chapter of the main expansion.

In terms of recent World of Warcraft expansions, this new story chapter is unique because it’s the first time we’re seeing a full chapter of the base expansion campaign set outside the newly introduced zones. Previously, fans have only revisited old areas as part of the main story, like in WoW Patch 11.1 with Zandalar, but never to this extent. Major storylines have taken place entirely within old zones before, such as the WoW Patch 11.1.7 campaign in the Arathi Highlands, but these were not integral parts of the main narrative.
In addition to Midnight, there are other parts of the game where innovation is taking place. For instance, the new Devourer Demon Hunter specialization in World of Warcraft is challenging traditional boundaries between melee and ranged combat. Unlike the Retribution Paladin or Unholy Death Knight, it manages to combine both styles in a way that’s never been seen before. Players are eagerly anticipating how Midnight might continue to shake up the MMO’s norms.
