World of Warcraft: Midnight Raids Have Some Surprising Boss Encounters

Major spoilers for World of Warcraft: Midnight below.

World of Warcraft: Midnight introduces some surprising and challenging dungeons and raids. Players will face off against both new enemies and recognizable characters like Lothraxion, L’ura, and Alleria Windrunner. These encounters won’t always be simple fights against Xal’atath’s forces; you’ll also battle corrupted friends and fanatical crusaders who have been twisted by the Light.

The upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion introduces a lot of new content, including updated areas in Quel’Thalas, the playable Haranir Allied Race, the Devourer Demon Hunter class, and the Prey system. Players will also have three different raids to explore at launch: Voidspire with six bosses, a solo challenge in The Dreamrift, and a final, two-part raid centered around the March on Quel’Danas.

Alleria, Lothraxion, L’ura, and More are Bosses in WoW: Midnight

While many of the challenges in these raids will involve Xal’atath’s forces, one major battle will be against a surprising opponent: Alleria Windrunner. The final encounter in the Voidspire, called the Crown of the Cosmos, will pit players against Alleria, who has been corrupted by the Void. This corruption seems connected to L’ura, a Naaru who merged with Alleria during the *Legion* expansion, turning her into a Void Elf. Now freed from Alleria, Xal’atath appears to be using L’ura to try and turn the Sunwell into a source of Void energy – a Darkwell.

These strange occurrences aren’t limited to nighttime attacks. Lothraxion, a powerful ally of the Vanguard of Light, is the final boss within the Nexus-Point Xenas dungeon. According to records, he was deeply hurt by a betrayal, which drove him to attack the dungeon alone, putting all of Azeroth at risk. However, the specifics of what happened and why it’s happening before players enter the dungeon remain a mystery.

Alongside these main encounters, players will battle some known enemies. Fallen-King Salhadaar, weakened after his betrayal in a previous update, and the Lightblind Vanguard – a group of Paladins encountered in the Midnight storyline – both appear in the Voidspire, having turned against Azeroth’s heroes. However, the majority of the raid’s enemies will be entirely new, including Imperator Averzian of the Dominaar, Chimaerus the Undreamt God, and Belo’ren, Child of Al’ar.

I’m so hyped for *World of Warcraft: Midnight*! From what I’ve heard, we probably won’t get to fight Alleria and L’ura until the game actually launches, as they’re saving those big battles for the final release. But the good news is, as they let us play more of the story in the coming weeks, we’ll likely get some clues and background on what’s happening before those fights, which is awesome!
