There’s a possibility that World of Warcraft will soon offer the Brutosaur mount—which originally cost $90—for sale again. A recent discovery in the game’s alpha testing files suggests it could be returning to the in-game cash shop, though Blizzard hasn’t confirmed anything yet. This mount was previously quite controversial.
The Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur was a large mount available for purchase in the World of Warcraft in-game store from December 20, 2024, to January 6, 2025. Even though it cost $90, the mount was incredibly popular, with roughly 188,000 players buying it and earning Blizzard about $15 million.
World of Warcraft’s $90 Brutosaur Mount Might Return Soon
It looks like the popular Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur mount may be available for purchase again soon! A recent update to the World of Warcraft: Midnight alpha included a file discovered by Icy Veins – a graphic linked to the in-game store. This strongly suggests that Blizzard is planning to bring the Brutosaur mount back as a promotion.
Just to be clear, this doesn’t mean the Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur will definitely return, or when it might. But since the mount first appeared during the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft, there’s a chance Blizzard could bring it back around the same time this year.
The Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur was a popular mount because it was the only one (besides the much pricier Mighty Caravan Brutosaur, now very rare and expensive on the Black Market) that came with a built-in Auctioneer NPC. It was even more unique than its predecessor because it also included a mailbox NPC. However, its high price – equal to the cost of the Epic Edition of World of Warcraft: Midnight – caused some criticism from players.
The World of Warcraft cash shop is getting a significant update with the introduction of housing. Housing will launch in the Midnight update, starting December 2nd with Patch 11.2.7. While most decorations for your new home will be earned through gameplay, some will also be available for purchase in the cash shop. Players are eager to see how this new feature impacts the in-game store.
