Blizzard has announced the changes coming in the next World of Warcraft update, Patch 11.2.7, titled ‘The Warning.’ This patch, arriving a day from now, is the last major update before the ‘The War Within’ expansion and includes many new features and improvements for players to enjoy before the ‘Midnight’ expansion launches in early 2026.
The biggest addition in the 11.2.7 update is the early release of player housing in World of Warcraft. Starting December 2nd, players who pre-purchased the Midnight expansion can claim land in Founder’s Point (for Alliance players) or Razorwind Shores (for Horde players) and start building. Guilds and groups can even create and manage entire neighborhoods. Players can get furniture by crafting it with professions or earning it through quests and achievements. Plus, anyone who’s already completed challenging raid and dungeon content will automatically receive the corresponding furniture as a reward, giving dedicated World of Warcraft players a jumpstart on decorating!
What else is in World of Warcraft’s New Update?
The final update for The War Within will include more than just player housing. Getting Infinite Power in Legion Remix will be easier thanks to some adjustments, and this will continue until the mode ends in January. Players will also find world bosses appearing in the Broken Isles, and those who defeat a Doomguard Challenger on Heroic difficulty will earn Fragmented Mementoes of Epoch Challenges. Timerunning characters can now trade Motes of a Broken Time with Erus for these mementos, up to 50 each day. We’ve also made changes to the Churning Waters talent and Naran’s Everdisc ability. Finally, players can use Bronze to purchase housing items, but they only have a few weeks to get exclusive decorations before Legion Remix concludes.
With the release of The War Within on December 2nd, the popular Turbulent Timeways event will return, offering a fast way to level up different characters and prepare for Midnight. This event will last for 10 weeks, running until early February 2026. Players can also look forward to Shadowlands Timewalking, which adds special versions of dungeons like The Necrotic Wake and De Other Side to the rotation. During Shadowlands Timewalking, players can use Timewarped Badges to purchase cosmetic items – including mounts and weapons – from the Shadowlands expansion.
Skyriding is getting a big update in Patch 11.2.7. The Vigor resource you used to manage while flying is being removed. Now, most abilities share six charges that refill over time – either every 10 seconds, or when you use the Second Wind ability. Taking off is now free, and the Whirling Surge ability has its own 30-second cooldown. These changes are designed to make flying around Azeroth smoother and more enjoyable.
On December 9th, the Brawlers’ Guild is back in World of Warcraft after a long wait! Bizmo’s Brawlpub and the Brawl’gar Arena will both be open again, offering players the chance to earn unique cosmetic rewards by completing challenges. The game also has some updated features, including new tutorials and control options.
The Warning is a Fitting Prelude to Midnight
The upcoming Midnight expansion will strongly feature the elf races and the region of Quel’thalas. A new quest line starring Arator, a major character in Midnight, will launch on December 2nd, connecting the stories of The War Within and Midnight. To help players understand Quel’thalas’ history, Lorewalker Cho will offer a special quest highlighting important events surrounding the Sunwell, a powerful energy source central to Midnight‘s plot. Plus, Pandaren players will be able to unlock a new set of cosmetic Heritage Armor.
World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7 Update Notes (December 1, 2025)
CONTINUING THE WAR WITHIN CAMPAIGN
Even though the threat of the K’aresh ghosts is over, a new danger is rising. Vereesa Windrunner is having visions of a terrible future, foretelling the downfall of Quel’Thalas. To discover what’s coming, continue the ‘The War Within’ campaign by starting the ‘Visions of a Shadowed Sun’ quest – you can find it in your Adventure Guide (press Shift-J).
STAKE YOUR CLAIM WITH HOUSING EARLY ACCESS
If you own any version of the Midnight expansion, you can now join a neighborhood, buy a house, and start decorating it with the Housing Early Access! Even if you don’t have Midnight, you can still collect housing items by completing activities, earning achievements, or buying them from merchants all over Azeroth.
NEW AND RETURNING PLAYER EXPERIENCES
Whether you’re just starting World of Warcraft or returning after a break, we’ve made it easier than ever to jump in. New players can enjoy an improved introduction to the game, while returning players will find helpful guidance to refresh their skills and quickly access the latest adventures in Azeroth.
NEW LOREWALKING: THE ELVES OF QUEL’THALAS
Talk to Lorewalker Cho to discover the history of the Blood Elves and Void Elves. He’ll start by explaining the attack on Silvermoon City by the Scourge and the Lich King’s attempt to corrupt the Sunwell. You’ll then learn how Alleria Windrunner’s actions affected the Sunwell, ultimately leading to the birth of the Void Elves.
PANDAREN HERITAGE ARMOR
Head back to the Wandering Isle and help your pandaren friends fix the preparations for the Spirit Festival. Work with both the villagers and spirits to bring peace back to the celebration, and you’ll be rewarded with the brand-new Pandaren Heritage Armor for your character.
TAKE A RIDE ON TURBULENT TIMEWAYS DECEMBER 2 TO FEBRUARY 9
Okay, so the Bronze Dragonflight just hit me with some crazy news: things are getting messed up in time! Apparently, a bunch of timelines are colliding with ours, and it’s a big deal. Luckily, Blizzard is running a limited-time event for ten weeks where we get to tackle six Shadowlands dungeons that weren’t previously available. There’s new loot to grab, achievements to unlock, and all sorts of goodies to earn. I’m definitely jumping in!
THE BRAWLER’S GUILD RETURNS DECEMBER 9
I’m so excited to get back in the ring and battle all sorts of awesome bosses, both new and old! It’s great that we can sign up to fight them ourselves and try to climb the leaderboards, but even if I’m not feeling up to fighting, I can still watch the action and cheer on other players. It’s going to be a real spectacle!
