As a seasoned World of Warcraft player with over a decade under my belt, I can confidently say that The Deephaul Ravine in The War Within has me more excited than a Horde warlord at a goblin auction. The hybrid payload/capture-the-flag objectives, fast-travel vehicles, and extreme topography are sure to breathe new life into PvP gameplay.
In their latest update, World of Warcraft unveiled details about the upcoming PvP battleground map, Deephaul Ravine. Arriving with expansion pack The War Within, this map includes payloads, a capture-the-flag objective, and quick transportation vehicles to create an exhilarating twist in the Player versus Player gameplay within World of Warcraft.
Get ready, as the launch of “The War Within” is swiftly approaching! Previews will start on August 22, with the full game release set for August 26 just a few days later. The extension offers an abundance of thrilling PvE content such as the Hero Talents advancement system, outdoor activities, and novel raids, delves, and dungeons that World of Warcraft enthusiasts can immerse themselves in.
However, PvP enthusiasts have plenty of reasons to be excited about The War Within as well. The Deephaul Ravine is a new battleground coming in the expansion, located in The Ringing Deeps. Two teams of 10, each representing the Unbound or the Machine Speakers, clash as they battle to capture resources and control the quarry. Players earn points by controlling one of the two mine carts active on the map, or by capturing the Deephaul Crystal from the center and returning it to their base. The match ends when the first team reaches 1500 points.
Deephaul Ravine PvP Battleground in World of Warcraft: The War Within
- A 10v10 battleground (8v8 in Battleground Blitz) in The Ringing Deeps.
- Available from level 71 and above.
- Hybrid payload/capture the flag objectives.
- First team to 1500 points wins.
- Mine cart vehicles offer quick transportation across the map.
The updated map offers additional tactical benefits that could shift the course of conflict. For instance, there’s a mine cart that spans the entire map, allowing players to swiftly move across the battlefield and rearrange their troops, or launch surprise attacks and immediate engagements. Moreover, given the dramatic terrain changes, characters from World of Warcraft with knockback abilities can exploit the high ground by initiating fights there, potentially ending skirmishes instantly due to fall damage.
The latest addition to the battlefield in World of Warcraft was the Seething Shore, introduced towards the end of Legion in 2018. Essentially, this implies that it’s been more than six years since a new Player versus Player (PvP) map has been added to World of Warcraft. It goes without saying that PvP enthusiasts in World of Warcraft are thrilled about the arrival of fresh content and eagerly anticipate testing out the map upon the release of The War Within.
The Deephaul Ravine can be explored once The War Within enters early access, however, earning currency is restricted until the game’s official launch. During this period, Honor will be limited to 4000 and vendors won’t offer items for sale. This is done to ensure that all players, regardless of their edition, reach a similar point in the game. Keep in mind that World of Warcraft: The War Within‘s PvP Season 1 doesn’t begin until September 10, giving players ample time to familiarize themselves with the Deephaul Ravine and prepare for Rated Battlegrounds.
