World of Warcraft Reveals New 6-Month Subscription Mount

Blizzard has announced that players can earn a new mount, Scorching Valor, in modern World of Warcraft and a new pet, Smoldering Courage, in Classic WoW by signing up for a six-month recurring subscription. Players with an active qualifying World of Warcraft subscription, or those who subscribe before January 31st, will receive these items for free.

Since 2018, World of Warcraft has rewarded players with special gifts if they maintain a subscription for six months or more. These rewards, updated in January and July each year, typically include a rideable mount for the modern game and a collectible pet for Classic World of Warcraft. The January rewards are often themed around the Lunar New Year and its associated zodiac animal and element – for example, the Timbered Sky Snake coming in 2025 to celebrate the Year of the Wood Snake.

January 2026 Six-Month World of Warcraft Subscription Offer

World of Warcraft has launched its July subscription offer for 2026. As part of this promotion, players can get a new mount called Scorching Valor (a fiery pegasus for the modern game) and Smoldering Courage (a pony version for Classic). These items celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse and are available to buy separately in the in-game shop. However, anyone with an active or new 6- or 12-month subscription will receive them for free. It might take a few days for the items to appear in your account, but they should be delivered by January 31st.

Scorching Valor is a special mount in World of Warcraft. Unlike other mounts, it features completely new and detailed animations and visual effects. Rebecca Oxford, a developer at Blizzard and the lead animator for Scorching Valor, recently shared a look at these features on Bluesky. Smoldering Courage, while not receiving a full animation overhaul, includes a delightful firework display when it’s idle.

Along with these exciting new additions, players who have a continuing 12-month subscription to World of Warcraft will also receive several free gifts. This includes the Astral Aurochs, the Grandiose Grrloc, the Herald of Sa’bak (originally from the 6-month subscription offer in July), and future rewards as part of the July rollover. With a little planning, players may even be able to get the Lunar New Year mount coming in January 2027 – rumored to be a fiery goat!

While there’s a pet for the current version of World of Warcraft and a mount for Classic that go with the Scorching Valor and Smoldering Courage themes, they aren’t part of this subscription. If you’d like the Smoldering Valor pet for retail WoW or the Scorching Courage mount for Mists of Pandaria Classic, you can purchase them for $10 or $25 each, or keep an eye out for future sales.
