World of Warcraft Reveals New Rewards for the Return of Plunderstorm

Just a few days prior to the reintroduction of the Plunderstorm game mode into the realm of World of Warcraft, Blizzard disclosed some of the pirate-themed prizes that gamers can secure, such as pets, mounts, and aesthetic outfits. The fresh rewards in World of Warcraft will be accessible through the Plunderstore, which serves as an upgrade to the old Renown track, offering Plunderstorm players a broader range of options when selecting their preferred prizes.

First introduced in Patch 10.2.6 of the Dragonflight expansion, a new game mode called Plunderstorm was launched on the retail World of Warcraft client. This mode is essentially a battle royale PvP experience set in the Arathi Basin, drawing inspiration from popular games like Fortnite. In Plunderstorm, players can either compete solo or in duos, gathering Plunder and employing spells inspired by WoW’s 13 classes to outmaneuver their opponents. The initial run of Plunderstorm lasted nearly a month and was met with enthusiasm from World of Warcraft players seeking something new. Despite being designed as a temporary event, the community has since expressed a desire for Plunderstorm to make a comeback.

Approximately a year since the initial launch of Plunderstorm within World of Warcraft, this battle royale mode is making its comeback, offering fresh incentives. As announced by Blizzard via social media, WoW players who participate in Plunderstorm can now acquire several new rewards such as the Hooktalon and Plunderlord’s Midnight Crocolisk mounts, Sparklesnap and Parley battle pets, and the Plunderlord’s Stormridden Finery transmog ensemble. These new Plunderstorm items are darkened re-colors of cosmetics previously given as Renown rewards. In response to player suggestions, Blizzard has revamped the reward system for Plunderstorm and consequently phased out the Renown track in favor of the Plunderstore. Players can now spend Plunder, accrued by playing regular Plunderstorm matches, on items available across both The War Within and World of Warcraft: Classic.

World of Warcraft Reveals New Plunderstorm Rewards

In addition to Plunderstorm’s comeback, World of Warcraft users linking their Twitch and Battle.net accounts can expect a new Twitch Drops prize. By tuning in to up to four hours of World of Warcraft content on Twitch through any participating channel, players will receive the Coward’s Azure Target in their transmog collection as a back piece. This Twitch Drops event takes place from January 14 to February 4, allowing players three weeks to secure their cosmetic reward.

The game “Plunderstorm” is set to be played in “World of Warcraft” between January 14th and February 18th. If the thrilling battle royale mode becomes an annual tradition depends on the opinions of both players and Blizzard.
