In simpler terms, the head honcho behind “World of Warcraft” (WoW) has shared a State of the Game update, hinting at several upcoming features such as social enhancements, tools for new players and role-players, and improvements in Player Housing. Although the letter didn’t provide many details, WoW enthusiasts can look forward to learning more about these updates shortly.
2021 marked the passing of the Lunar New Year, implying that “World of Warcraft” is on the verge of embarking on an ambitious journey outlined in its 2025 roadmap. By year’s end, fans can anticipate two significant content updates, introduction of Player Housing for contemporary “WoW”, reintroduction of “Mists of Pandaria” for “Classic”, and possibly even a second Remix event featuring “Legion”.
Currently, some intriguing details about future features in World of Warcraft have been unveiled. In a recent WoW State of the Game letter, executive producer Holly Longdale looked back on 2024 and ahead to 2025. Although many aspects of the heartfelt message covered familiar topics, there were some new tidbits sprinkled throughout – one of the most thrilling being that World of Warcraft will be revealing details about Player Housing simultaneously with the blog post’s release.
World of Warcraft Reveals State of the Game 2025
World of Warcraft is focusing on enhancing the initial player experience as well. Longdale stated that there isn’t a swift solution for this issue, hence the project initiated in Shadowlands with Exile’s Reach will persist through Midnight and The Last Titan, and beyond. Additionally, she hinted at several other potential new features Blizzard wants to introduce, such as rewards for commendable behavior similar to Overwatch 2’s Endorsement system, improved methods for connecting with fellow enthusiasts, and additional tools for roleplayers in World of Warcraft.
One intriguing point Longdale brought up was the potential for integrating popular social media sites within the game community. In Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard attempted to do this with Twitter, but unfortunately, this feature was taken out from World of Warcraft in early 2023 due to modifications in the API policy on the site. It remains to be seen which social media platforms will be involved in this integration and whether it will be as well-received and successful as the Twitter integration once was.
Longdale also clarified that the World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery will not conclude with Phase 7, contrary to previous assumptions about its final update. Over the coming months, players can anticipate further announcements regarding the future of Season of Discovery, as well as updates for Classic and modern versions of WoW.
