World of Warcraft: The War Within Keeping a Time-Saving Feature for Alts

World of Warcraft: The War Within Keeping a Time-Saving Feature for Alts

Highlights

  • WoW players can now skip intro scenarios on alts after completing them once, saving significant time on secondary characters.
  • The War Within beta allows skipping the expansion intro, teleporting players straight to Dornogal after talking to Jaina.
  • Blizzard’s decision to implement scenario skips for alts in WoW expansions is a welcome change for players looking to save time.

As a dedicated World of Warcraft player with countless hours spent leveling alts and replaying expansions, I must say that Blizzard’s decision to allow scenario skips for alts in The War Within expansion is nothing short of a breath of fresh air!

“Excitedly, I share that in the realm of World of Warcraft, we, the players, are granted the privilege to bypass the extended prologue for ‘The War Within’ once we’ve experienced it. This means that as soon as the latest expansion drops, fans can swiftly land on Dornogal with their alternate characters, thereby saving a substantial chunk of time on our alts.”

Numerous expansions for World of Warcraft feature extensive opening sequences like the Battle for the Broken Shore in Legion, the Horde’s rescue mission for Talanji in Battle for Azeroth, and the initial journey into the Maw in Shadowlands. These scenes are thrilling initially but can take as long as an hour to finish, making them repetitive tasks when playing additional characters. In recent times, World of Warcraft has introduced skipping options that allow players to bypass these sequences on subsequent characters.

It appears that World of Warcraft is adopting a similar approach in The War Within. In one of the latest builds of The War Within beta, content creator MrGM found out that players can bypass the start of the expansion by speaking to Jaina following the completion of the intro scenario on an existing character. This allows them to jump directly to Dornogal’s Earthen capital city, offering the opportunity to skip over the expansion’s introduction. This includes foregoing the questline in Dalaran during the pre-patch, the destruction of the city, and the subsequent fight against the Nerubians amidst the ruins.

Intro Scenario Skip on Alts in WoW: The War Within

Prior to the Shadowlands Pre-Expansion update, scenario skips were seldom seen – players wanting to revisit old expansion content had to go through these lengthy segments repeatedly on each new character. With the Shadowlands Pre-Patch, certain intros such as the Broken Shore became skippable, although it didn’t allow bypassing the Maw immediately afterwards. It appears that fans can now skip this process once they complete it for the first time in The War Within, which is a significant stride towards making the game more convenient.

In the upcoming expansion, The War Within, it’s yet to be fully understood how characters will progress from levels 70 to 80, but it’s reasonable to anticipate a system akin to Dragonflight. Players may find themselves traversing the zones of World of Warcraft: The War Within, leveling up through world quests, side missions, and delves. For those who wish, they can replay the main story quests in any sequence if they choose, offering a flexible progression path.

Overall, fans are delighted that World of Warcraft is reintroducing this specific feature. Although allowing players to repeat these scenarios on additional characters is enjoyable for those who choose to do so, the ability to advance directly will alleviate some stress for characters who have multiple accounts (alt-lovers). With this change and World of Warcraft’s recent decision to transform a bug from the beta into a feature, it appears that Blizzard has been experiencing several significant victories recently.
