In September 2024, the Global Finals of the World Series for Warzone took place in Las Vegas. A massive number of viewers watched as the intense battle royale competition unfolded. As the largest tournament within the Warzone realm, it drew in the most skilled competitors and offered a prize pool worth $950,000.
As the triumphant member of Team Falcons who clinched victory at the Global Finals a few months back, I’m disheartened to share that we haven’t received our well-deserved $300,000 prize money yet. Despite our monumental win, about 20 of us are still waiting for the payment. It’s been over four long months now, and we’re hoping to get this resolved soon.
A Debt Owed
On social media, Biffle wrote:
Four months have passed since WSOW, and I’m aware of roughly twenty individuals who haven’t received their payouts yet – me included, with a $100,000 prize on the line. The email provided for WSOW support remains unanswered, which is downright unacceptable and shows a lack of professionalism.
Biffle, Soka, and Shifty snatched the $300,000 grand prize at the World Series of Warzone Global Finals, a victory that came mere two months after they had won first place in the Warzone category at the Esports World Cup held in Riyadh.
Recently, there’s been uncertainty about Activision’s approach towards battle royale esports events, and it appears that the scene might be losing momentum and potentially nearing its end. As of now, it remains unclear what the competitive landscape for this year’s World Series of Warzone will look like.
Biffle openly expressed his worries, which are valid given the situation. It’s absurd to think that a payment of $100,000 would be withheld, and this careless act could potentially tarnish Activision’s competitive Call of Duty: Warzone landscape for good, suggesting a questionable level of integrity.
In response, UnRationaL – who finished in second place, trailing Biffle’s team – mentioned that he is yet to receive a payment of around $53,000.
It seems there’s no evidence suggesting that Call of Duty League teams have to wait an unusually long time to receive their winnings after winning a Major or COD Champs. Therefore, it raises questions as to why Warzone, another popular aspect of the Call of Duty franchise, appears to be overlooked by Activision and Microsoft.
