Over the past few years, anime’s popularity has expanded, not just in Japan but worldwide. Before this surge, certain shows had already gained iconic status and were recognized globally. These legendary series include “One Piece,” “Dragon Ball,” and “Naruto.” Today, anime has entered mainstream culture, with fans anticipating great things from newer releases.
The anime titled “Solo Leveling” is renowned, having broken numerous records on Crunchyroll, even claiming the position of its most-watched show. Yet, in contrast to the widespread acclaim, the title of the most enduring series didn’t fall upon “Solo Leveling.” Instead, at the AMI event, the honor was bestowed upon “One Piece,” a recognition well-earned for being the world’s best-selling manga.
One Piece Beat Solo Leveling At The AMI Awards
- One Piece Earned the Title of Most Iconic Anime Of All Time
- Dragon Ball And Solo Leveling Beaten
The Anime & Manga International Awards (AMI), more commonly recognized by its name, is a ceremony that many anime enthusiasts are still unaware of. Given its recent inception this year, it’s not surprising that it’s relatively unknown. However, its significance is set to grow, as it stands as the first voting event for anime and manga held within the United States.
This year, an intense vote to determine the most legendary anime of all time took place. The contenders included “Dragon Ball Z”, “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”, “Attack on Titan”, “Naruto”, and of course, “One Piece”. In the end, it was “One Piece” that won, as chosen by fans. This outcome wasn’t surprising to many fans, given that it is the world’s largest manga series. Interestingly, “Solo Leveling” was not even nominated for this award, which isn’t unexpected since it’s relatively new and hasn’t yet reached iconic status compared to the other nominated shows.
The AMI Awards is an inaugural U.S. event, entirely fan-voted, conceived and organized by the enthusiastic community for the community – celebrating the groundbreaking visionaries, performers, cosplayers, and imaginative minds who breathe life into anime and manga. We feel these artists deserve recognition on par with their counterparts in film, stage, music, and television. Fueled by the fervor of this remarkable fanbase, the AMI’s aim to bring together industry heavyweights and devoted fans in a joint tribute to creativity, ingenuity, and the narratives that bind us.” – Stephanie Heaston (AMI Executive Producer)
Is One Piece More Iconic Than Solo Leveling?
- Both Series Are Huge
- One Piece Has More Manga Sales
While Solo Leveling has garnered significant popularity, it’s a stretch to label it as iconic, given its relatively recent debut in 2024. It remains uncertain whether Solo Leveling will continue to be discussed in future discussions. In stark contrast, One Piece stands undisputedly at the top. With worldwide recognition, it outshines Solo Leveling in both manga and anime formats. The enduring success of One Piece, spanning over 28 years, is unparalleled. Furthermore, the quality that One Piece delivers far surpasses Solo Leveling and other nominees for any given award. Indeed, One Piece holds the title as one of the greatest anime/manga masterpieces, and fans can anticipate it accumulating numerous awards in the future.
