As a longtime World of Warcraft player with countless hours spent exploring Azeroth and delving into its dungeons, I can’t help but feel exhilarated about the new Demon Fall Canyon dungeon in WoW Classic’s Season of Discovery Phase 4. This isn’t just another rehash of an old instance or a simple revamp; it’s a completely new experience that brings fresh challenges and a deep connection to Warcraft lore.

In the latest update for World of Warcraft Classic‘s “Season of Discovery” phase 4, a fresh new dungeon called Demon Fall Canyon has been introduced. Unlike previous server updates where certain dungeons were revamped, Demon Fall Canyon is unique as it was specifically created for this seasonal event.

In recent development, the initial major update for “World of Warcraft Classic” during the Season of Discovery has been released. This update introduces a multitude of new Rune inscriptions in the fourth phase of the experimental realms. Additionally, players can now experience the Blackrock Eruptions world event in Burning Steppes and Searing Gorge. Furthermore, two renowned world bosses from “World of Warcraft Classic” – Azuregos and Doom Lord Kazzak – are now available as instanced raids. Lastly, Molten Core and Onyxia’s Lair have been refurbished.

As a dedicated gamer of WoW Classic, I was taken aback during the Season of Discovery Phase 4 by an unexpected twist: a hidden dungeon revealed itself. Though there were hints dropped in the patch notes, the community has since identified it as Demon Fall Canyon – a secluded, corrupted area tucked away in southeast Ashenvale. By finishing the “Demonic Deceptions” quest given by the Shadowtooth Emissary in Felwood, I could earn the ability to enter this level 55-60 dungeon and face six fresh boss encounters that have never graced the halls of WoW before.

Demon Fall Canyon Dungeon in WoW SoD Phase 4

  • A new level 55-60 dungeon only found in WoW Classic Season of Discovery, located in southeast Ashenvale.
  • Demon Fall Canyon requires attunement in order to enter it.
    • Pick up the Demonic Deceptions quest from the Shadowtooth Emissary in Felwood.
    • Obtain 6 Owlbeast Pineal Glands from Berserk Owlbeasts in Winterspring, north of Everlook.
    • Complete the quest to get the Shadowtooth Illusion Ward, which allows players to see the dungeon entrance.
  • Demon Fall Canyon has six bosses:
    • Grimroot, The Mourning Guardian – a corrupted Ancient of Lore
    • The Destructor’s Wraith – a manifestation of Mannoroth in the form of a spectral Felguard
    • Zilbagob – an imp piloting a Goblin shredder
    • Pyranis – a corrupted Druid
    • Diathorus the Seeker – a Dreadlord
    • Hellscream’s Phantom – an echo of Grommash Hellscream

In “Warcraft 3,” Grommash Hellscream infamously killed Mannoroth, the demon whose blood brought corruption among the Orcs, at Demon Fall Canyon. While you can pay a visit to this significant lore site in other versions of “World of Warcraft,” it mainly consists of Mannoroth’s broken glaive floating above and a memorial for Grommash. Now, with the expansion “Season of Discovery,” Demon Fall Canyon has been developed into an entire dungeon.

If the encounter with Shadow of Gorehowl, the updated version of Grom’s weapon in the Season of Discovery, wasn’t thrilling enough, you can obtain it by defeating Hellscream’s Phantom, the final boss in the new dungeon. Naturally, any player eager to add one of World of Warcraft‘s most legendary axes to their collection won’t want to skip this freshly introduced dungeon.
