WWE 2K25 Gets Exciting Update from Take-Two

Highlights

  • WWE 2K25 is confirmed for release in Q4 Fiscal 2025, which means it should be out by the end of March.
  • The reveal of WWE 2K25 may coincide with the Royal Rumble in 2025.
  • Take-Two’s financial report does not list any specific platforms for WWE 2K25.

As a longtime fan of wrestling games and the WWE franchise, I can hardly contain my excitement over the confirmation that WWE 2K25 is officially in development! After the rocky start with WWE 2K20, it’s been a breath of fresh air to see the series bounce back and improve with each subsequent release.

TwoKee has officially announced that they are developing WWE 2K25, with plans for its release during Q4 Fiscal 2025 – which puts it at the end of March 2025. Although many might expect a fresh WWE 2K game due to the annual nature of this franchise, there have been instances in the past where fans had to wait for a new installment in the professional wrestling game series.

As a longtime fan of professional wrestling and video games, I can confidently say that the development of the WWE 2K series has been quite a rollercoaster ride for me. Last year’s release, WWE 2K20, was a massive disappointment, earning negative reviews from both fans and critics alike. It was so bad, in fact, that publishers 2K decided to scrap plans for WWE 2K21 and give the development team more time to work on WWE 2K22.

Based on the trend set by recent WWE 2K games, it’s likely that the announcement for WWE 2K25 will happen around the Royal Rumble event in 2025. At present, we only know that it’s under development. Interestingly, Take-Two has not specified any platforms for WWE 2K25 yet, which could suggest a potential shift from the previous games’ cross-generational approach. This lack of platform information might imply that WWE 2K25 is considering a new direction, perhaps one that maximizes the capabilities of the newer systems. However, whether it will abandon older consoles and focus on newer ones remains to be seen.

It’s plausible that we might see the release of WWE 2K25 on the Nintendo Switch. Previously, the last two WWE 2K games did not appear on the Switch, but there’s a rich tradition of WWE games on Nintendo systems, often released even when they were less powerful than other consoles in the same era. Developers Visual Concepts and 2K usually bring out games like NBA 2K25 for the Switch, so it seems somewhat surprising if they don’t do the same for WWE 2K. Regardless, fans will have to wait until the official reveal for information about the platforms that WWE 2K25 is intended for, whether this takes place at next year’s Royal Rumble or some other time.

Details about the upcoming game WWE 2K25 were disclosed in Take-Two’s recent financial statement, which also gave a sneak peek into other games they are planning to release. Among them were NBA 2K25, Civilization 7, Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game, CSR Racing 3, Ken Levine’s Judas, and not forgetting Grand Theft Auto 6. As per the report, the launch date for Grand Theft Auto 6 remains fall 2025, implying that next year is expected to be a big year for Take-Two.
