Blocking and Countering Combos in WWE 2K25
In terms of attacking strategies within WWE 2K25, the newest installment of the WWE 2K series, there are a multitude of choices at your disposal. Whether you prefer Chain Wrestling, grappling techniques, power slams or other maneuvers, it can be challenging to determine the ideal option that suits your playstyle.
Surprisingly enough, the finest choice can occasionally be an old-school mix. This typically involves a blend of common moves found in fighting games, like swift and powerful strikes, culminating in a crushing finale.
Frequently, these combinations could cause your adversary to fall onto the mat, opening up several possibilities. Should we aim for a sneaky pin now? Or perhaps lift them again to inflict further damage? Alternatively, might it be the right moment to ascend the ropes and deliver a daring flying elbow drop?
Honestly, you can’t go wrong either way, but just be careful that you don’t get countered.
Now, you may ask yourself, “How do I perform a combo in WWE 2K25?” Our guide is here to help.
How to Perform Combos in WWE 2K25

Though some intricate attacks in WWE 2K25 might appear complex, combinations are essentially straightforward. Seasoned fighting game enthusiasts will find themselves comfortable, as it just involves pressing the attack keys in a particular sequence.
To see the special moves for the WWE Superstar you’re controlling, pause the game and navigate to the “Combo” section in the menu instead of choosing “Moves” (which covers finishers and signature moves) or “Controls” (basic controls).
Once you’ve selected “combos,” it will list all available combos, as indicated in the image below.

Every WWE Superstar possesses unique combinations of moves, tailored to their specific wrestling technique and style. For instance, Roman Reigns is characterized by his methodical and powerful approach, whereas Rob Van Dam exhibits a more dynamic and agile style.

In WWE 2K25, there are three distinct categories of moves you can perform: Light, Heavy, and Grappling. The specific combination you execute depends on the final button you press beforehand.
For instance, Roman Reigns’ Straight Right Punch 2 sequence involves a light attack as the final button pressed, making it a lighter combination. Conversely, his Gut Punch 5 series requires a heavy attack for the last button, hence classifying it as a heavier combo.
In the case of the Neckbreaker 12 combo, it means that even though you initiate the sequence with a powerful strike, you ultimately end up executing a grappling move.

Keep in mind that while you’re in the midst of a sequence of moves, your opponent still has the chance to respond and turn the tables. If you decide to execute a sequence, ensure it will succeed. Otherwise, you might find yourself lying on the wrestling mat unexpectedly!
There are two strategies for thwarting combos. One option is timing your response accurately to counter an attack by pressing the Y/Triangle key. Another choice involves executing a breaker move during your adversary’s combo sequence.
To execute a counter move effectively, whether playing Xbox or PlayStation, you should press either X/A/B on Xbox or Square/X/Circle during an enemy combo or grappling action. Timing is crucial in coordinating your responses with your opponent’s attacks; if not done correctly, you might miss the opportunity for a counterattack.
