Even though *WWE 2K25* came out only six months ago, 2K Games has announced when its online servers will be turned off. Fortunately, players still have time to enjoy the game online, as the servers won’t be shut down for another two years.
As a big fan of online games, it’s sadly become pretty clear that a lot of them don’t stick around forever. Maintaining those servers costs a lot, and sometimes licenses run out or the company owning the game changes. It’s even worse now with so many games being digital-only – if a game gets pulled from online stores, it’s basically gone! That’s why I’m really glad the ‘Stop Killing Games’ movement is trying to fix this. The newest example is *WWE 2K25*, and thankfully, 2K is at least giving us some warning before the online servers shut down.
WWE 2K25 Servers Will Be Retired in March 2027
Shortly after being added to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium lineups for September 2025, it’s been announced that *WWE 2K25* will stop working online starting March 14, 2027. According to 2K’s service page, this shutdown will happen exactly two years after the game’s release on March 14, 2025. Players have just over a year and a half left to earn trophies, play online, create custom wrestlers, and enjoy all the game has to offer. However, many feel that two years is a surprisingly short lifespan for a $70 game that’s available on most platforms.

As a big wrestling fan, I was a little bummed to hear that the *WWE 2K25* experience on the Switch 2 isn’t quite as good as on other consoles. It launched over four months later, but still cost the same $70! That means Switch 2 players are getting less time with the game before the servers eventually shut down. And to make things worse, the Switch 2 version doesn’t have features like the image uploader or the ability to download creations from the community. Honestly, it just feels like Nintendo fans are getting a bit shortchanged with this release.

Unlike *WWE 2K23* and *WWE 2K24*, *WWE 2K25* will continue to be supported for a bit longer. The previous two games are scheduled to lose online functionality about 22 months after they were released. It’s not just *WWE 2K25*, though; 2K is also ending online services for *PGA Tour 2K23* on February 28, 2027 – just a couple of weeks after *WWE 2K23* and *WWE 2K24*. Even sooner, on October 30, 2025, 2K will shut down online play for *The Golf Club 2019* and *PGA Tour 2K21*.
