In the exciting new release of WWE 2K25, a fresh and unique game mode called “The Island” makes its appearance. This mode offers both solo and multiplayer adventures, where players can shape and enhance their very own superstars. However, it’s important to note that not everyone will have the chance to explore The Island immediately, as this feature is exclusive to those who buy WWE 2K25 for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S systems.
Players on PC and last-generation consoles won’t be able to explore The Island in WWE 2K25. Although this was confirmed at the end of January, details about why The Island would be exclusive to current-gen consoles were not disclosed then. However, more information has been shared since, and it’s now clear that this mode is only available on modern gaming platforms.
The Reasons That WWE 2K25’s The Island is Not on PC
In an interview with Wccftech, Lynell Jinks, the creative director of WWE 2K25, was questioned about why The Island wasn’t included in the game’s PC version. Jinks explained that there were worries about maintaining a high-quality gaming experience on various PC systems. He further clarified that since the game is already running at its maximum potential, players with less powerful hardware might have encountered performance problems while playing The Island.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve come to realize that The Island might be missing from last-generation consoles for a solid reason. The developers themselves, Jinks, have mentioned that they had worries about maintaining quality across various PC configurations, and not just that, but also on all the different versions (SKUs) of the game itself.
In the second part of Jinks’s reply, it was suggested that hackers on the PC platform might potentially cause severe problems such as economically disrupting the game or exploiting it to an extent that it disrupts the balance and progression. This appears to be the strongest argument for The Island opting out of the PC version of WWE 2K25, as players using the mode honestly may feel discouraged if they often encounter others with hacked visual elements and statistical abilities.
Initially, the game mode called “The City” within the NBA 2K series, which shares some notable similarities with “The Island”, was not accessible for PC gamers. However, with NBA 2K25, this changed, leading us to speculate that “The Island” might also become available on PC platforms in future WWE 2K instalments.
WWE 2K25 is Cheaper on PC
Although some gamers might find it frustrating that The Island isn’t included in the PC release of the game, t it’s more affordable. To be precise, the Standard Edition of WWE 2K25 retails at $59.99 on PC, whereas it costs $69.99 on consoles. Consequently, players who aren’t keen on specific game modes might opt to pocket a cool $10 and settle for the less expensive PC version.
WWE 2K25 Does Not Allow Cross-Gen Sharing of Community Creations

Before you decide on a platform for WWE 2K25, it’s important to note one more detail: Community Creations in this game can only be shared within the same console generation. For instance, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One users share one pool of Community Creations, while those on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have access to another. Although these two pools might eventually become similar, it’s worth considering this restriction when choosing your game version.
It’s worth mentioning that this restriction is probably due to the introduction of “The Island,” which necessitates a separation between the last-generation versions (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC) and the current-generation versions (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S). In earlier games, there was no need for such division, enabling players to seamlessly exchange their Community Creations across platforms. Some gamers might argue that this shared freedom was unnecessarily compromised for The Island. However, enthusiasts of WWE 2K’s latest game mode may find this distinction a welcome addition.
