WWE 2K25 Won’t Bring Back Fan Favorite Feature

Summary

  • WWE 2K25 won’t feature show intro cutscenes in MyUniverse mode, disappointing series fans.
  • The game will include intergender matches, chain wrestling, and The Island multiplayer mode.
  • A Visual Concepts developer left the door open for show intros to return in the future if demanded.

Unfortunately for series enthusiasts, it has been confirmed that WWE 2K25 will not revive the engaging show intros from the MyUniverse mode. Over the last few weeks, additional details about the upcoming installment in the extensive WWE 2K series have surfaced, often during WWE broadcasts. Recently, Paul Heyman, manager of Bloodline, disclosed the official cover art for WWE 2K25 on an episode of Raw, while character stats have been subtly displayed during matches.

In the upcoming game, WWE 2K25, a variety of elements are being reintroduced or enhanced to the traditional wrestling simulation formula. This includes intergender matches and chain wrestling, which have been absent from the series for quite some time. Additionally, WWE 2K25 is debuting The Island, an open-world multiplayer mode that allows up to 50 players to engage in challenges, compete with each other, and discover locations inspired by real-life WWE performers such as Roman Reigns and The Undertaker who grace the cover of the game.

It appears that WWE 2K25 is also omitting certain features. Bryan Williams, a developer from Visual Concepts, recently discussed WWE 2K25 with WrestleZone and mentioned several changes aimed at making the game more realistic in terms of actual WWE programming. In response to questions about the introduction scenes that were featured during new cards in Universe mode in previous versions, Williams stated that they won’t be included this year, but hinted at a potential return “later on.

Universe Mode Show Intros Won’t Be Coming Back in WWE 2K25

Bryan Williams shared with us that he and his team at Visual Concepts have considered the advantages and disadvantages of reintroducing popular past features, noting some gamers might find them repetitive. However, fans on Reddit’s r/WWEGames forum suggest that the pre-show pyro sequences and music at the start of each new WWE 2K Universe Mode card add authenticity, making it seem less like a simple exhibition mode and more immersive. They argue that these intros could be made optional in settings, allowing players to choose whether they want to watch them or not.

In earlier versions of WWE 2K, players appreciated the show intros in MyUniverse mode. However, these weren’t present in WWE 2K24, causing some dissatisfaction among gamers. But fear not! Future DLC for WWE 2K25 might include these features if fans make their preference known. Excitingly, WWE 2K25 is set to debut on all major platforms on March 14, just as the WWE Universe gears up for WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
