Leaks suggest that WWE 2K26 could include “The Island,” a feature that was in last year’s console version but not available on PC. While WWE hasn’t officially announced any new features for WWE 2K26, sources say The Island might return with a brand new storyline.
A key feature of WWE 2K25 is The Island, an online multiplayer mode inspired by Roman Reigns’ ‘Island of Relevancy’ concept and designed as a tribute to the Samoan Dynasty and The Bloodline. Players can create custom avatars, complete solo challenges, and compete against others online in ranked matches. Initially, The Island was only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with support for the Nintendo Switch 2 added later. Currently, the Steam version of WWE 2K25 doesn’t include The Island. While new content was released throughout 2025, The Island received criticism for heavily featuring microtransactions used to improve player characters.
The Island May Come Back in WWE 2K26
Okay, so there’s a lot of buzz about WWE 2K26, but you gotta take everything with a grain of salt, right? Apparently, The Island mode might be coming back for another go-around! I’ve been hearing from some sources that the story will pick up right where WWE 2K25‘s Island campaign left off. It sounds like there’s going to be a three-way battle for control on the Island of Relevancy, with different groups fighting it out – one of them is even called the Order of Anarchy! A big part of the story is supposed to be about what happens after Roman Reigns loses his spot as Tribal Chief of The Bloodline. But that’s not all! Rumors also suggest we’re getting some classic match types back, like I Quit and Inferno Matches. Can you believe it’s been since WWE 2K14 since we’ve seen those?! Fingers crossed all this stuff turns out to be true!
It’s currently unknown whether The Island game mode in WWE 2K26 will be available on PC, or if it will remain exclusive to consoles. While WWE 2K26 doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, previous games in the series usually launch in early 2026. WWE has an upcoming event where they could potentially reveal more about the game and showcase its features to players.
Official News About WWE 2K26 Could Come Soon
The annual Royal Rumble event will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 31, 2026. This major WWE event could be where the company first reveals details about the upcoming WWE 2K26 video game. The event begins at 2:00 PM Eastern Time and features the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble matches. In the US, fans can stream the Royal Rumble on the ESPN app, while international viewers can watch on Netflix or through other local providers.
With the reappearance of The Island and the inclusion of match types fans haven’t seen in years, WWE 2K26 initially feels like a throwback to WWE’s exciting Attitude Era. But we’ll have to wait and see what other new features and surprises WWE and 2K have planned for the game and its fans.
