Microsoft and Asus have delayed the reveal of the pricing for the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally handheld PC.
Following the announcement of the release date during their Gamescom stream and via their social media platforms on Wednesday, what caught my attention was the absence of any pricing details.
Microsoft has shared that the release of pricing details could be delayed due to broader economic factors, with a more specific announcement expected within the next few weeks. Yet, based on conversations with colleagues in Cologne, this delay might not hold true in all cases.
Based on reports from Xbox Era’s Jon Clarke, it seems that both ASUS and Microsoft were keeping a close eye on people’s reactions following the leak of the prices.
According to Clarke, the initial intention was to disclose both the pricing and pre-order information together with the release date. However, following an unauthorized leak of the prices at $549.99 and $899.99, it appears that the plan has been adjusted.
Clarke notes that instead, it appears ASUS and Microsoft are aiming to lower the cost of their handheld devices by means of subsidies, potentially making the prices more appealing to customers.
In an effort to gather more details regarding the delay in pricing for the Xbox Allies (both standard and X model), TopMob is waiting for a response. Once we receive information, we’ll update this article accordingly.
