Xbox Announces New Integration with GeForce NOW

Highlights

  • Microsoft has added an option to launch Xbox PC games via GeForce NOW straight from Xbox.com.
  • The feature is a continuation of Microsoft’s content streaming partnership with Nvidia, which was announced in early 2023.
  • The newly introduced integration is still not available in all GeForce NOW-supported countries as of July 18.

As a long-time gamer and someone who constantly seeks convenience and accessibility in my gaming lifestyle, I’m thrilled about Microsoft’s latest integration of GeForce NOW into Xbox.com. This new feature allows me to launch Xbox PC games directly from the website using Nvidia’s streaming service, making my experience more seamless and efficient than ever before.

Microsoft has introduced a new collaboration with GeForce NOW that enables users to initiate playing games through Nvidia’s streaming service directly from the Xbox platform on their web browser. However, this feature may be restricted by region or undergoing global release as not every user of the Xbox storefront in supported countries can access it yet.

Microsoft’s ongoing partnership with Nvidia’s streaming service is an extension of their initial agreement announced in February 2023. At that time, Microsoft pledged to bring Xbox PC games to GeForce NOW as part of its strategy to complete the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which was under regulatory scrutiny due to antitrust concerns. To address these concerns, Microsoft entered into collaborations with rivals like GeForce NOW, ensuring regulators that it would not use Activision Blizzard’s content catalog for an unfair advantage in the growing game streaming market.

Xbox Makes Accessing GeForce NOW More Convenient

Starting August 2023, GeForce NOW subscribers have been able to play certain Xbox PC games through their partnership. Now, Microsoft has made it easier for users to access these games by adding GeForce NOW as an option in its online storefront. With a simple click on the “Play with Cloud” button and selecting Nvidia’s streaming service from the pop-up window, users can launch supported games directly from Xbox.com.

Microsoft unveiled the new integration at ET afternoon on July 17. According to Game Rant’s findings using a VPN, the feature is not yet activated in all 77 countries where GeForce NOW operates. However, it can be utilized in the US and UK as of July 18. The streaming platform currently offers access to 252 Xbox PC games, which include “Gears 5,” “Starfield,” “Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition,” “Amnesia: The Bunker,” and “Hitman: World of Assassination.” For a complete list of supported Xbox games, visit Nvidia’s website.

Monthly, this catalog grows larger, with new GeForce NOW Xbox games joining in. In June, we welcomed “Lords of the Fallen,” “Still Wakes The Deep,” and “Disney Speedstorm” as the latest additions. Concurrently, July 2024 saw the addition of “Gang Beasts,” “Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn,” and “Dungeons of Hinterberg” to our supported titles roster.

As a long-time gamer and tech enthusiast, I’ve been following the developments in cloud gaming with great interest. And let me tell you, the landscape is getting more exciting by the day! While GeForce NOW has been making waves as a popular streaming platform for NVIDIA games, there’s another contender that’s worth mentioning: Boosteroid.
