Xbox Blog Post Accidentally Leaks “Steam” Tab in User Interface

Today, Xbox accidentally published a blog post featuring a screenshot of their user interface, which included a tab titled “Steam.” Although Microsoft quickly took down the image, it appears they may be considering releasing an Xbox model capable of playing games from your Steam collection.

Will Xbox Players Finally Get to Play Games From Their Steam Library?

The blog post under discussion was written by Leo Olebe, Xbox’s VP of Global Partnerships, with the title “Opening a Billion Doors with Xbox at GDC 2025.” As found by XboxEra, the original image showcased various devices presenting the Xbox games library, such as on a laptop, smartphone, and ROG Ally. Upon closer examination, the library UI was visible in the background. Notably, beside filters like Installed, Game Pass, and Recently Added, there was one labeled “Steam.

Based on its location between Game Pass and Owned, it seems that future players might be able to access games they own on Steam through their Xbox library. This speculation arises from the possibility that the next Xbox could enable playing Steam games on the console. Additionally, there are reports suggesting that Xbox is collaborating with Asus to develop a new handheld device.

The current post on the blog showcases multiple points aligning with Xbox’s “open” stance, a philosophy they have upheld for several years. As Olebe put it, “We advocate for gamers to enjoy their preferred games alongside their chosen companions, regardless of location. At the heart of our vision lies enabling game developers to effortlessly produce top-tier content across various platforms. In essence, we aim to transform every screen globally into an Xbox.” Additionally, Olebe highlighted the Stream Your Own Game service that allows Game Pass subscribers to play and stream games on a variety of devices such as PCs, smartphones, and Smart TVs.
