Microsoft’s most recent system update in February 2025 for the Xbox platform has brought some convenient improvements to the Xbox Game Streaming Service. These enhancements include an expanded selection of Xbox games that can be streamed, as well as a novel method to quickly invite friends to join a multiplayer game.

Initially introduced as a beta version in September 2020, Xbox Cloud Gaming has been continually developing since then. Originally launched with high aspirations, it enables players to stream their preferred Xbox games on various devices without the need for a console. However, progress on Xbox Cloud Gaming stalled during 2022 and most of 2023 due to Microsoft’s legal battles surrounding the acquisition of Activision Blizzard King. Now that regulatory issues have been resolved, development of Xbox Cloud Gaming is gathering momentum once more.

Approximately a month since Xbox Cloud Gaming was integrated into LG smart TVs, the streaming service has experienced some fresh updates due to the latest Xbox system update in February 2025. One of the significant improvements introduced is the capability to create direct invite links for multiplayer games through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Gamers can commence a multiplayer game via the cloud by visiting the Xbox tab, accessing game invitations, and choosing “Anyone.” This action creates a unique link that can subsequently be sent to friends. Those receiving the invitation just need an Xbox account and an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription to participate effortlessly. It’s important to mention that this feature is currently accessible only on web browsers using Xbox’s official website and Samsung smart TVs at present.

For cloud gaming fans, here’s some thrilling news: The update introduces a fresh batch of games to Xbox Cloud Gaming! Since its debut last year with 50 titles, the Stream Your Own Game beta feature is growing yet again, enabling users to jump straight into more games from their collection without the need for lengthy installations. The latest selection of cloud-compatible games includes “Atomic Heart,” “Cult of the Lamb,” “Hotline Miami,” “Serious Sam Collection,” “Overcooked! All You Can Eat,” and many others.

Microsoft has announced that upcoming exclusive games like “DOOM: The Dark Ages” will be playable on Cloud Gaming from the get-go. This is exciting news for Xbox Cloud Gaming enthusiasts, but it’s disappointing to note that the eagerly awaited reboot of “Fable,” developed by Playground Games, has been delayed from its 2025 release window to 2026.
