Laura Fryer, one of the original founders of Xbox, recently shared her concerns in a YouTube video (reported by WCCFtech) about the recent price increases for Xbox Game Pass. She directly criticized current leadership, questioning whether they truly understand what makes Xbox special. Fryer worries that those in charge aren’t listening to the community and are continuing to make choices that suggest they’re out of touch and not receiving player feedback.
According to Fryer, the tendency to simply agree with those in charge, which became prominent around 2008, has intensified. She believes this is a key reason why prices have dramatically increased for Xbox fans, especially after the company announced Game Pass had generated $5 billion in revenue. Fryer argues that Xbox hasn’t managed to control the rising costs of creating content, and its leaders seem to have lost touch with the complexities of large-scale game development, ultimately leading to job losses and project cancellations.
