The puzzle game The Talos Principle 2 is now available to play for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. It’s the 14th game added to the service this January, and four more titles are coming before the month ends.
Released in November 2023 by Croteam and Devolver Digital, The Talos Principle 2 is a first-person puzzle game that, like the first installment, challenges players to solve intricate puzzles and uncover hidden secrets in a beautiful, tropical world. It also explores thought-provoking philosophical themes. Critics have praised the game, giving it an “Mighty” rating on OpenCritic with an average score of 89 and a 99% recommendation rate – ranking it among the top 2% of all games on the site. Based on average scores alone, The Talos Principle 2 is one of the highest-rated games of 2023, landing in the top 20.
The Talos Principle 2 Joins 3 Xbox Game Pass Tiers
The popular puzzle game, The Talos Principle 2, is now available with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, having been added early on January 27th. It’s available on all Game Pass tiers except the basic ‘Essential’ plan, like many games that aren’t released on the service immediately. This is the first time Game Pass members can play the 2023 game as part of their subscription. While the initial announcement didn’t mention it, the game is also playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming. It’s expected to remain on Game Pass for about a year, similar to how long the original Talos Principle was available after being added in November 2019.
If you enjoyed Portal, you’ll likely appreciate The Talos Principle 2. It’s a first-person puzzle game with challenging brain-teasers, a sci-fi world, and a bit of humor, though the puzzles work differently. The sequel feels quite different from the first game, focusing more on interactions with other characters rather than a solitary experience. Expect to spend around 20-30 hours completing the main game, but finding all of its hidden secrets will take much longer – there are plenty to discover!
Busy Days Are Ahead for Xbox Game Pass
Xbox Game Pass is getting four new games at the end of January 2026. First, Anno: Mutationem and Drop Duchy will be available on January 28th, and then, on January 29th, players can look forward to MySims: Cozy Bundle and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

Xbox Game Pass currently has five games scheduled to be added in February 2026, and seven games will be leaving the service on January 31st. We’ll likely find out the first set of games coming next month on February 3rd, which is when Final Fantasy 2 becomes available.
