Xbox Game Pass Adds 2024 Game That’s All About Creativity and Control

Xbox Game Pass just got a new addition: Planet Coaster 2 is now available to play for members across all three subscription levels. This marks the fourth game added to the service this April and the 58th new game added to Xbox Game Pass so far this year.

Released in 2024, Planet Coaster 2 is the latest theme park management simulation game from Frontier Developments, building on the success of the popular 2016 title, Planet Coaster. The original Planet Coaster was praised for its creative freedom and has sold around 4.8 million copies on PC. While Planet Coaster 2 isn’t selling quite as quickly, it has received very positive reviews, earning a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic with an average score of 78 based on 50 reviews and an 85% recommendation rate. As of April 2026, it has over 7,500 reviews on Steam, with 71% of players giving it a positive rating, making it one of the best modern rollercoaster tycoon games available.

Planet Coaster 2 Boosts Xbox Game Pass Theme Park Sim Catalog

Today, April 9th, the 2024 management simulation game launched on Microsoft’s subscription service for the first time, about 17 months after it was originally released. It’s now available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. This launch happened alongside a big spring sale on the Xbox Store for 2026, offering a 60% discount on all versions of Planet Coaster 2. This brings the price of the standard edition down to $19.99 and the deluxe edition to $25.99.

The first Planet Coaster was available on Xbox Game Pass for a year, from November 2020 to November 2021. So, the new sequel might also be on the service for about 12 months – that’s typical for games added by other companies. This is great news for fans of tycoon games on Xbox Game Pass, as there aren’t many currently available, with Cities: Skylines – Remastered from Paradox Interactive and Zoo Tycoon from Xbox Game Studios being a couple of examples.
