The highly anticipated Death Stranding Director’s Cut is now available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, having been added on January 21st. Along with it, two other games were released today, making a total of eleven new games added to Xbox Game Pass this January.
Created by Hideo Kojima, the mind behind Metal Gear, Death Stranding is a remarkably unique, big-budget game. It challenges players to make deliveries across a bleak, post-apocalyptic landscape. Originally released on PlayStation in November 2019, it came to PC in July 2020. Though opinions were divided at first, many critics appreciated its core idea, giving it a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic with a 79% recommendation rate and an average score of 83. Xbox Game Pass subscribers have been able to play the PC version of Death Stranding for over a year, starting in August 2022.
Xbox Game Pass Marks Its First Triple Release Day of 2026
Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed post-apocalyptic game, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, is now available on Xbox Game Pass as of January 21st, and it’s been expanded to include Xbox Series X/S and Xbox Cloud Gaming, not just PC. Joining it on the platform are Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound and a new version of RoadCraft, making it the first time Xbox Game Pass has added three games on a single day in 2026. RoadCraft was previously available on Xbox Game Pass via cloud and Series X/S since September 2025, and is now also playable on PC, mirroring how Death Stranding has expanded its availability.

- Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound: 86 score, 93% recommended

Games released on January 21st have been very well-received by both players and critics. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is the standout title, earning an average score of 86 on OpenCritic. It’s the only one of the three new releases to receive a “Mighty” rating, placing it among the top 4% of all games rated on the site since 2015. Ragebound also became available on Microsoft’s subscription service just before the one-year anniversary of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black joining Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass is getting at least six new games before the end of January 2026. Nova Roma will be available on January 22nd, followed by The Talos Principle 2 on January 27th. Microsoft’s Xbox Developer Direct event on the 22nd might also bring some surprise game releases. Later in the month, on January 28th, players can look forward to two new additions: the deck-building roguelite Drop Duchy and the cyberpunk RPG Anno: Mutationem.
