Resident Evil 7 was a fresh start for the series after the disappointing response to Resident Evil 6 in 2012. Released in January 2017 for PC and consoles as Biohazard, the game received mostly positive reviews, earning an 86 out of 100 on OpenCritic based on 175 reviews, with 91% of critics recommending it. Players also loved it, giving it a 4.6-star rating on the Xbox Store and a 93.94% positive rating on Steam as of late March 2026. This strong reception from both critics and fans has established Biohazard as one of the best Resident Evil games ever made.
Resident Evil 7 Rejoins Xbox Game Pass After 4 Years
The popular survival horror game Resident Evil 7 returned to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass today, March 31st. It’s been about three years and ten months since it was removed from the service, where it was available for 20 months. Since then, Game Pass has been updated with more options—it now has four tiers instead of two. Resident Evil 7 is included with the Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass subscriptions, but not the basic Essential tier.

Okay, so I was stoked to see Biohazard added to the Microsoft library – it’s awesome getting more Resident Evil games! It’s only been a couple of months since Resident Evil Village dropped on Game Pass back in late January 2026. And the best part? Capcom’s remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis are still available on Game Pass, which is amazing because they’ve been there since early 2024. Seriously, so much Resident Evil goodness!

Xbox Game Pass’s First Spring 2026 Wave Is Just Around the Corner
Xbox Game Pass will kick off its spring 2026 releases on April 2nd with Barbie Horse Trails, followed by Final Fantasy 4 Pixel Remaster on April 7th. Square Enix’s JRPG is set to launch alongside Microsoft’s announcement of the complete Game Pass lineup for April. We anticipate the roadmap will cover games releasing from April 7th to 21st, and will likely include previously announced titles like Replaced, Hades 2, and Vampire Crawlers.

During the first three months of 2026, Xbox Game Pass added 52 games and removed 25, resulting in a net increase of 27 titles. This is a significant improvement – a 350% jump – compared to the same period in 2025, when the service lost 10 games overall. It’s worth noting that the first quarter of 2025 was unusually slow for new additions, and Game Pass added games at a much faster rate throughout the rest of the year. If this pattern holds true for 2026, the service is projected to add around 376 games this year, which would be a 74% increase from the previous year.
