Xbox Game Pass Adds Another Vampire Survivors-Like Game

The game Halls of Torment is now available with Xbox Game Pass. This addition brings the total of new games added to the service in October 2025 to 65, and the total for the year so far to 187. It’s a similar game to Vampire Survivors.

Developed by Chasing Carrots, Halls of Torment is a retro-style action roguelike where you fight off waves of enemies. While fans of Vampire Survivors will likely enjoy it, Halls of Torment offers much more than just a similar experience. It features deep RPG mechanics with tons of gear and character customization options, similar to what you’d find in a modern action RPG like Diablo 4. Critics have responded very positively, giving the game an 85 average score and a rare 100% recommendation rate on OpenCritic, earning it a “Mighty” rating. Players agree, with over 20,000 “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews on Steam as of October 2025 – just 13 months after its release.

Halls of Torment Now Available on 3 Xbox Game Pass Tiers

The action roguelike Halls of Torment became available on Xbox Game Pass on October 28th. It wasn’t a launch title, so it’s included in the PC, Premium, and Ultimate tiers – all Game Pass levels except the most basic. While there’s no direct version for Xbox One, players with that console can still play Halls of Torment through Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is now available on all Game Pass tiers except PC Game Pass as of late August 2025.

With Halls of Torment, Chasing Carrots is releasing its first game on Xbox Game Pass, so it’s hard to say how long it will stay available. Most games remain on the service for at least a year. The game’s launch on Game Pass also includes a new free update, which players have been testing for a few weeks. This update adds a new Bard character, gameplay adjustments, and bug fixes. Plus, the first downloadable content pack, The Boglands, is now available for purchase. It features a new level, two new playable characters, and over 50 quests.

Recently, several games similar to Vampire Survivors have become available on Xbox Game Pass. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor joined the service in September, and Halls of Torment is the latest addition. Super Fantasy Kingdom, which launched in October, is a bit different – it’s a city-building game with roguelike elements and tower defense gameplay that fans of the ‘survivorslike’ genre might enjoy.
