Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now includes *Frostpunk 2*, a popular strategy game where you build and manage a city. Critics have given it an average score of 85 out of 100 on OpenCritic, making it a standout title among the many city-building games available with the subscription.
The first *Frostpunk* game came out in 2018 and has received consistently positive reviews on Steam, with over 100,000 users giving it a “Very Positive” rating. The sequel, *Frostpunk 2*, launched in 2024 and sold more than 700,000 copies within its first year. The game’s developer, 11 Bit Studios, has announced another *Frostpunk* project planned for 2027, but information about it is currently limited.
Frostpunk 2 Joins Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as Day-One Console Release
Starting September 18th, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now play *Frostpunk 2*, which is also newly available on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The game has been out on Steam for almost a year and has received a “Mostly Positive” rating from over 17,000 players, making it a good option, particularly if you enjoy building and managing cities. *Frostpunk 2* challenges you to create a society in a frozen, post-apocalyptic world, requiring careful resource management, navigating different groups of people, and establishing rules to keep things running smoothly.

Continuing the ideas from the first game, *Frostpunk 2* takes city-building strategy even further. It adds a detailed system for governing and dealing with politics, offering new ways to approach the game. The world map is also bigger now, making survival more challenging as you manage larger territories and deal with increased dangers from the environment.
11 Bit Studios has plans for several downloadable content packs for *Frostpunk 2* after it releases on consoles. It’s currently unknown if these additions will be free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers or require separate purchases. Confirmed DLC includes *Spectrum*, *Aurora*, and another currently called DLC 3. The base game typically costs around $45, and a Deluxe Edition is available for approximately $75.
