Xbox Game Pass Adds Open-World Sandbox MMORPG Fresh Out of Early Access

The MMORPG *Pax Dei* is now available to play with an Xbox Game Pass subscription. It’s the 55th game added to the service this October and the 177th Game Pass release so far this year.

Pax Dei, meaning “God’s Peace” in Latin, is an online multiplayer game where players build a world together. Developed by Mainframe Industries, a studio with experienced developers from companies like Blizzard, Ubisoft, and Remedy, it’s designed to be a deeply immersive and community-focused experience. Players can claim land and connect with others – as more people join, small plots grow into villages, towns, and eventually large fortresses. Unusually, the game world doesn’t have any pre-built towns or cities, putting the emphasis entirely on player-created communities. Pax Dei was first released as an early access game in June 2024.

Pax Dei 1.0 Launches on Xbox Game Pass

Today, October 16th, the full version of the social MMO *Pax Dei* is officially live, launching at 11am ET. You can play it on Steam, the Microsoft Store, and with Xbox Game Pass. Unlike some 1.0 releases on Microsoft’s subscription service, *Pax Dei* is available to all Game Pass subscribers, including those with the new Xbox Game Pass Premium membership (formerly XGP Standard). The launch includes a fresh start for everyone due to a server wipe, and the 1.0 update brings new gameplay features and improvements, as detailed in the official patch notes.

Pax Dei Is Streamable, But Not Via Xbox Game Pass

Most Xbox Game Pass games can be played on Xbox Cloud Gaming, but *Pax Dei* is an exception. While you *can* stream *Pax Dei* using other services like GeForce Now, Shadow, Boosteroid, and AirGPU, it’s not available through Xbox Cloud Gaming. This is likely because *Pax Dei* is only available on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming runs on special, upgraded Xbox Series X consoles.

As a Game Pass subscriber, I’m super excited about the next few weeks! We’re getting six new games before the end of October. First up is *Keeper* on October 17th, and then *Ninja Gaiden 4* and *Evil West* are hitting the service just four days later. Mark your calendars for October 23rd because *Bounty Star* and *PowerWash Simulator 2* are coming then, and to finish off the month, *The Outer Worlds 2* is launching on October 29th! It’s going to be a busy month!
