In January 2025, Xbox Game Pass has expanded its collection by including the game titled “Shady Part of Me“. This marks the 11th new addition to their library this month.
Originating from a Parisian studio named Douze Dixièmes, or “twelve tenths” in English, the game titled “Shady Part of Me” is a captivating blend of puzzle-solving and platform gaming. This intriguing title was covertly launched at The Game Awards back in December 2020. Focus Home Interactive distributed it for play on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers.
Four years down the line, “Shady Part of Me” found its spot in Microsoft’s subscription service, landing there on January 29th. In addition to being played on PC and consoles, this puzzle platformer can now be streamed through Xbox Cloud Gaming, a special feature for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. However, since it’s not a day-one release, “Shady Part of Me” is also accessible under the Standard tier of Xbox Game Pass.

In essence, “Shady Part of Me” is a game where players guide both a girl and her shadow through bizarre, dreamscape landscapes. Technically speaking, this game stands out with its unique blend of 2D and 3D exploration and problem-solving. The game incorporates a time rewinding feature that encourages experimentation, and the main character is voiced by Hannah Murray, who you might recognize as Gilly from HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Upon its release, “Shady Part of Me” garnered favorable reviews, earning a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic based on an average score of 77 and a 77% recommendation rate among critics. Critics lauded it for its heartwarming story, diverse puzzles, and watercolor-inspired graphics, among other accolades. As a result, “Shady Part of Me” has become known as one of the top horror puzzle platformers in recent times.

In January 2025, the game titled “Shady Part of Me” becomes the newest addition to the Xbox Game Pass Standard collection. By the end of the month, subscribers on PC and Ultimate tiers will receive two additional games. The first one, slated for release on January 30, is “Sniper Elite: Resistance“. A day later, “Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector” is due to be added as well.
