For August 2025, the mid-month update to Xbox Game Pass adds “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Enhanced,” an upgraded version of the action-adventure game originally launched in May 2024 by Ninja Theory. This latest creation acts as a prequel to the critically acclaimed 2017 release, “Senua’s Sacrifice.” The game garnered multiple awards for its exceptional audio design, writing, overall quality, and the captivating performance of Melina Juergens as the lead character. Now, subscribers of Xbox Game Pass have another chance to revisit the game and experience its new enhancements.
In “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2”, players find themselves in an uncommon yet well-known setting – 9th century Iceland, a time when Vikings stumbled upon and started inhabiting this remote, volcanic island. The main character, Senua, is an Orcadian woman who is forced into slavery after being taken from her home in the Orkney Islands. During her stay, she starts experiencing the unusual hallucinations that set her apart from other video game protagonists.
Xbox Game Pass Adds Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2
Originally a Xbox exclusive, the game was initially launched on Microsoft’s subscription service on its release date. On August 12, an upgraded version of “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 ” became available as a free update for both PC and console gamers, including those using Xbox Game Pass. This improved edition offers a performance mode for smoother gameplay during combat sequences, in addition to an optional game setting that increases Dark Rot growth on Senua each time she dies. Players can now experience an enhanced photo mode with new options and settings, as well as commentary from Ninja Theory developers.
