Microsoft has unexpectedly updated its list of games leaving Xbox Game Pass. Originally, more games were scheduled to be removed on September 30th, but now only three titles will be departing the service at the end of the month.
Microsoft usually announces which games are leaving its subscription service every two weeks, along with the new games coming to the service. On September 16th, they announced that four games will be removed at the end of the month: *Ninja Gaiden: Sigma*, *Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2*, *Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge*, and *Terra Invicta*.
Terra Invicta Isn’t Leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 30 After All
Okay, so there was a bit of a mix-up! I was seeing reports that *Terra Invicta* was leaving Xbox Game Pass, but Microsoft has now said that was announced by mistake. Thankfully, it’s staying for now! That means only the three *Ninja Gaiden* games are still scheduled to leave at the end of the month. Honestly, those games had a pretty good run on the service – they were added with the *Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection* way back in June 2022, which is a long time for a third-party title to stick around.
Terra Invicta became available on Xbox Game Pass in late March 2024, about a year and a half after its initial early access release. Currently, it’s still considered an ‘early preview’ title and is only playable on PC through Xbox Game Pass. The developers, Pavonis Interactive, plan to keep the game in early access until late 2025, though this could change depending on how development progresses at their Colorado studio.
It’s unusual for Microsoft to change a previously announced list of games leaving Xbox Game Pass, but it has happened a couple of times recently. For example, the game *Atlas Fallen* was initially listed for removal on August 15th, but it’s still available on the service as of today, six weeks later. This shows that the departure lists aren’t always final.

Microsoft hasn’t explained why the game *Terra Invicta* was mistakenly shown as leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 30th. It’s possible the listing was an error, and Xbox and the game’s publisher, Hooded Horse, actually came to an agreement to keep it on the service. Alternatively, *Terra Invicta* might still be leaving soon, and the removal notice was just posted too early.
