Summary
- Xbox Game Pass Core added Batman: Arkham Knight, Tunic, and Monster Sanctuary.
- These are the first new titles to reach the XGP Core library since December 2024.
- Even before launching Xbox Game Pass Core in September 2023, Microsoft committed to updating its content catalog several times per year, and has so far delivered on that promise.
Xbox Game Pass Core has just expanded its collection with the addition of Batman: Arkham Knight and two additional games, making this the first growth for the service in 2025.
In July 2023, Microsoft introduced their most cost-effective subscription plan, Xbox Game Pass Core. This plan replaced Xbox Live Gold and offered a budget-friendly way to access online features on Microsoft consoles, along with some free games. After its launch two months later, the service has been periodically expanding its game library.
On March 26, the Xbox Game Pass Core collection grew with the arrival of “Batman: Arkham Knight”, “Tunic”, and “Monster Sanctuary”. Subscribers can now enjoy playing these games on either an Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S. Interestingly, “Batman: Arkham Knight” has been a part of the broader Xbox Game Pass library since June 2019. On the other hand, “Monster Sanctuary” and “Tunic” joined the service in December 2020 and March 2022 respectively. This suggests that these games are likely to remain in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service for some time as they have been added to the Core tier catalog.

2025 will see the initial broadening of Microsoft’s entry-level gaming service offering for Xbox Game Pass, marking the first expansion since early December 2024 when it incorporated titles like “Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled”, “DayZ”, and “Goat Simulator”. Given Microsoft’s past patterns, it’s not expected that any more games will be added before summer 2025 at the very least. This aligns with their original announcement, suggesting that the Xbox Game Pass Core library would receive updates several times a year.
For March 2025, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to adding just one more game to their roster: “Atomfall,” a post-apocalyptic survival game from the British studio Rebellion. Although “Atomfall” has been accessible in early stages since March 24th, its worldwide launch is scheduled for the 27th. Excitingly, members of PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be able to play “Atomfall” on its release day.
Xbox Game Pass April 2025 Lineup Isn’t a Complete Mystery
Microsoft’s subscription service is set to unveil its initial releases for next month, likely around April 2nd. However, several of these games have already been confirmed, with Xbox Game Pass revealing six titles slated for April 2025. Leading the pack will be “South of Midnight“, an action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games, who were acquired by Microsoft in 2018. Following closely are “Descenders Next” and “Commandos: Origins“, which are expected to join the premium tiers of Xbox Game Pass on April 9th, followed by “Blue Prince” a day after. The second wave of releases for April 2025 will feature “Tempopo” and “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33“, scheduled for arrival on the 17th and 24th, respectively. In the interim, ten games, including four “Yakuza” titles, will be removed from Xbox Game Pass as of March 31st.
